Grant Developer - District Office
FUNCTION: To research grant opportunities, write and develop grant proposals that support the mission and strategic plan of the college as directed by the Director of Grants Development.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Job Functions
1. Responsible for conducting the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to government, foundation and corporate sources which includes:
- Identify public sources of funding by registering in appropriate state and local grant opportunity portal websites
- Identify and secure sample funded projects
- Identify funding trends and changes
- Review grant opportunities and prioritize funding opportunities
- Organize grant proposal preparation teams
- Lead proposal teams through the entire development process including submission
2. Develop, write, and edit grant proposals and funding applications as directed by the needs of the Office of Grants Management
3. Focus on data collection and maintenance:
- Monitor federal government databases (such as grants.gov) for grant opportunity notices that match college needs or mission
- Maintain records in a database (GrantHub) and track demographic and community data
- Monitor updates from the U.S. Census Bureau and update internal databases
4. Review college priorities and match to available funding opportunities
5. Assist with development and administer an outreach plan to potential college grant stakeholders to ensure department/program growth
6. Review and edit documents related to grant development including, but not limited to proposals, budgets, inquiry letters and grant reports
7. Provide and support faculty and staff training initiatives, workshops and seminars as needed
8. Maintain knowledge of federal Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Uniform Guidance and compliance for federal awards
Additional Job Functions:
- Serve on college committees where needed to facilitate the grants programs
- Create monthly grants office newsletter promoting successes, resources, and upcoming opportunities
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- This position requires strong written and communication skills with experience in technical writing in community colleges or similar environment.
- The most important personality traits for this position are organization, integrity, detail-oriented, self-starting, and flexibility.
- Experience and comfort with gathering data from a variety of sources; analyzing data and creating tables and charts needed.
- The ability to work with diverse groups for the overall success of the organization and the project are important.
Education and Experience:
Required Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in a liberal arts discipline, education, journalism, psychology or sociology, degrees with research experience or persuasive writing experience also acceptable. Grant writing experience combined with a Bachelor’s degree not listed here will also be considered.
Preferred Education:
- Masters degree in areas mentioned above.
Required Experience:
- Three years of grant writing experience, or an equivalent combination of college education and experience which provide the skills, knowledge and ability necessary to perform the tasks.
- Experience proofreading and editing grant proposals (or similar) and with gathering necessary data.
Preferred Experience:
- Work experience in a college grant or sponsored projects office environment preferred.

Salary Grade: 27
