The CE&E (Customer Experience & Engagement) IMI (Innovative Medicine International) team aims to design and deliver intentional, impactful customer experiences for HCPs and patients through integrated engagements and solutions.
The Commercial Director role is responsible for the co-creation of key marketing strategies as well as tactics with the WXT (Global and Core Markets XF team) and ensure adoption/implementation across the globe. Furthermore, they will partner across functions and with local Hem/country team to support On-Demand markets. To achieve that, the Commercial Director drives key disease area initiatives in launch excellence, KOL management and innovative customer-centric solutions according to the best-in-class Virtual/On-Demand model. He/she also co-leads indication pillar IDAPs and tactical plans and practice sharing meetings. In addition, the Commercial Director supports the in-market C&G Leads (7 core markets) to ensure WXT execution.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Demonstrated excellent cross-functional leadership and marketing skills and is recognized as an experienced coach /counsellor to his or her counterparts across the Global and market teams.
- A core member of the Global Commercial team working closely with core markets to help drive co-creation of key strategies and tactics
- Coordinates the execution and roll-out of key strategies and tactics for the On-Demand markets
- Supports On-Demand markets with strategic account management, content development for the platform and demand forecasting
- Operating in an agile way to maximally leverage available resources by pooling both labor and investments above market for optimal collaboration and focus on what makes most impact in continued evolving business priorities
- Provides support for pre-launch and launch activities to reduce time to peak sales and break-even compared to competitors within the disease areas.
- Encourages the formation of multifunctional and cross-country teams to foster profitable growth
- Provides effective leadership and interaction within the disease area on a Global level
- Supports the creation of a positive and can do culture within the Cell and Gene organization
- Closely interacts with the country/cluster Disease and Brand Directors to agree on brand strategies and M&S initiatives, to align on Cx plans, to share best practices across countries, to provide input on talent development as well as deployment and allocation of resources, at all times closely aligned with the Franchise Heads.
- Closely cooperates with the Medical, Market Access and Customer Operations functions to coordinate development, pre-launch and launching activities.
- Frequents relevant interfaces at Global level to foster development of the business according to the country/cluster needs
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $ 201,600.00 and $302,400.00 per year; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/23 through 12/31/23, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
The ideal location for this role is at the East Hanover, NJ site but remote work may be possible (there may be some exceptions based on legal entity registration). Please note that this role would not provide relocation as a result. If associate is remote, all home office expenses and any travel/lodging to specific to the East Hanover, NJ site for periodic live meetings will be at the employee’s expense. The expectation of working hours and travel (domestic and/or international) will be defined by the hiring manager.

Minimum requirements
- University degree in bioscience, medicine, business, and/or economics, MBA is preferred.
- At least 10 years senior level pharmaceutical commercial, marketing, medical, access or R&D experience.
- Successfully driving growth of multiple brands.
- Experience of strategy development and asset shaping early in lifecycle (from any functional perspective – marketing, new products, access, medical, clinical, R&D)
- Cell & Gene experience preferred - deep disease area and asset knowledge (or track record to acquire required DA / asset expertise effectively and rapidly)
- Prior experience in launching specialty brand(s) in major market(s) (US, CN, JP, EU5, AUS, CAN)
- Strong focus on results and people development
- Strong communication (oral, written, and presentation) and analytical skills.
