Job description

The GIS Technician operates computer system, including creating, updating and modifying maps, and performs manual drafting.

Responsible for varied GIS assignments requiring a broad knowledge of spatial data management and applied GIS and the effect the work has on the energy business. May be considered an expert within a specific GIS discipline. Solves problems using a combination of standard or modified procedures. Participates in planning objectives. Performs independent studies, and analyzes, interprets and draws own conclusions; more complex work projects are referred to more senior GIS Analysts. Not supervised in detail except on more difficult assignments. May give periodic technical guidance to less experienced GIS staff assigned to work on a common project. May work independently within a business unit or center of excellence.

  • Supports Survey Team in processing and data management; data systems and network upgrading and maintenance.
  • Processing, organizing, coordinating and advising on a broad range of project assignments requiring knowledge of surveying/mapping/data systems/networks.
  • Support the field surveying, mapping, and document deliverables for agency submittals. Use of various databases in process field data. Processing and managing point cloud data files. Maintain and manage Field Survey Data systems together with local and wide network operating systems
  • All duties performed are to be carried out according to safety of all personnel at the worksite and to efficiently perform the task.

Requirements

  • Must have a strong background in Field Survey.
  • Must have ARC Pro and ARC Map experience.
  • Must have a working knowledge of As-built Pipeline
  • Preferred experience in Civil 3D.
  • Must have a strong communication, organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite products, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Work Environment

This job operates in a remote setting.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday


Required Education and Experience

Minimum of High School Diploma with Bachelor’s degree preferred or completion of a technical trade school in GIS, drafting or related field, plus at least two years of related work experience; or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
