Description:The Gift Shop Manager is directly responsible for all daily gift shop operations including maintaining proper inventory levels, equipment enhancements, pricing recommendations, sales reporting, inventory controls, department budgets, overall management of the gift shop team which includes hiring, and training. Must have experience staging merchandise and leading a professional operated retail store.
This position is responsible for annual budgeting based on the zoo’s strategic plan and attendance/revenue goals. Will manage profit/loss margins and lead gift shop team in developing new revenue generating opportunities. Must have good communication skills and a positive and friendly presence when dealing with zoo guests. Must be customer service focused and have experience training staff in customer service.
Position works Sunday – Thursday and will be required to work evenings, weekend and holidays as necessary.
Requirements:
Minimum high school diploma or GED with 7-10 years' experience working retail, plus 3-5 years of direct management. Or advanced degree (associate or bachelor) in business, hospitality management, or related field with. 3-5 years of experience working in retail plus 2-3 years of direct management experience.
Previous experience in revenue generation and management of a diverse line of products and inventory is highly desirable. Previous experience with POS implementation and management a plus.
Position is full-time, salaried exempt.
