BHE GT&S has an exciting career opportunity for a Geologic Services Manager at our White Oaks General Office located in Bridgeport, WV.

As the Geologic Services Manager you will be responsible for the overall management of the Geologic Services program, including supervision of professional staff (two geologists and a technical specialist) along with selecting vendors and contractors to engage in the assessment and remediation of storage well casing integrity. The successful candidate in this position will be an industry expert on geology reservoir integrity and the impacts of fracing horizontal well bores in shallow storage formations underlying storage. In this role you will represent BHE GT&S on various professional committees (PRCI, AGA, API) related to micro-seismic assessments of the geophysics associated with long term impacts of Marcellus development underlying a storage pool. 

This role will be responsible for the development, direction, and management of the Geologic Services group. Responsibilities include:

  • Developing program guidelines for the cased well bore inspection and ongoing re-evaluation of the program, which includes updating current SOP guidelines to proactively address storage well integrity/reliability throughout our system.
    • This program will be administered by the periodic selection of qualified contractors to perform casing inspection, and when necessary, setting and retrieving downhole pressure isolation plugs. Storage well casing evaluation will be performed in accordance with the frequency prescribed in the Storage Well Guidelines.
  • Maintaining GeoGraphix SMT and Access databases and updating geologic mapping.
  • Designing, conducting, and interpreting seismic (2D - 3D) studies in reservoirs to determine placement for new wells reservoir boundaries and suitability for storage development.
  • Managing storage wells database and how they are completed.
  • Mapping of reservoir geology.
  • Tracking 3rd party drilling activity around our reservoirs and management of farmout of Marcellus rights (in R/N Bridgeport FKLC Oakford and South Bend) for compliance with provisions in the farm out agreement.
  • Administering cased well bore and open hole logging program to assess gas movement behind pipe and remaining wall thickness.
  • Updating storage guidelines
  • Conducting geologic mapping and studies to verify reservoir limits and identifying potential storage reservoirs.
  • Providing accurate project cost estimates; establishing and maintaining project objectives schedules and budgets.
  • Ensuring the quality safety and regulatory compliance of facilities; overseeing inspections testing and evaluations.
  • Directing start-up activities, developing, implementing, and monitoring budgets for all O&M and Capital projects related to the Geologic Services and the cased well bore inspection program.
  • Communicating across varied disciplines (Certificates, Legal, Land Lease, and R/W and Field Operations) to complete tasks and resolving issues with landowners, regulatory personnel, contractors, and company employees.
  • Providing post-completion audit of performance and financial results.
  • Acting as a liaison with various State Agencies relative to annual well inspections and providing written responses.
  • Maintaining current regulations regarding Well Integrity in all states in which storage facilities are located.
  • Works to provide Geologic Services support for Northern Natural Gas.

Geologic Services Manager

  • Eight to ten years demonstrated geologic services experience and thorough understanding of cased and open hole logs as they relate to the Appalachian geology and depositional environment. 
  • Ability to effectively supervise a diverse work group.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge of company capital and operating budget procedures.
  • Ability to define problems, to collect accurate data, to draw valid conclusions, and negotiate contractor adjustment settlements.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, including interpersonal, to develop rapport, and effective relationships.
  • Strong leadership skills.

Education
Master (Typically two years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a master's degree.)
