The General Mechanic Trainee is a part-time temporary summer position MAY 8 – AUGUST 20, 2023 that reports to the Maintenance Supervisor.
As a condition of employment, Duquesne University requires all new employees —full-time and part-time, including adjunct faculty—to get a COVID-19 vaccine and provide proof of their vaccination upon commencement of employment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

General maintenance mechanic duties as assigned by a Maintenance Supervisor in areas of heating, cooling, plumbing, electrical, pneumatic and general construction.
Perform carpentry maintenance tasks including routine drywall repair, window repair, cabinet repair, door hardware installation and painting.
Completes other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent

Good physical condition

Two years of experience in maintenance and/or construction

Preferred qualifications:

Alternately, the successful candidate may possess any equivalent combination of experience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential job functions. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:

Possesses general knowledge of heating and cooling systems, plumbing systems, electrical and pneumatic systems, and general construction

Knowledge of and ability to use hand and portable electrical tools

Willingness to work overtime and holidays

Ability to work well with others
