Job Summary
Effectively provides general maintenance services for Lewis & Clark College as assigned under the auspices of Facilities Services - LAW within financial resources available.
TEAMSTERS LOCAL UNION NO. 305 - This position is represented by the Lewis & Clark College Teamsters Local Union No. 305 (Affiliated with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters).

Description of Duties & Responsibilities
  • Performs highly skilled maintenance and repair services including, but not limited to the following specific areas: sheetrock and taping, wall coverings, windows and window frames, window coverings, ceiling tile, floor tile and grout, minor carpet repairs, wall fans, minor door adjustments, and roof leaks.
  • Performs general maintenance tasks and assists all crafts in performance of duties.
  • Safely operates all hand and power tools necessary to complete assigned tasks.
  • Moves, loads, unloads, and delivers heavy and bulky materials, supplies and equipment by hand, dolly or forklift.
  • Responds to on-campus emergency calls during and after hours.
  • Maintains accurate records of materials, labor and equipment costs on assigned tasks.
  • Keeps accurate inventory of all parts and supplies used for general maintenance.
  • Assists in event set-up.
  • Coordinates with skilled tradesmen and assigned supervisors for the purpose of completing projects and work orders efficiently.
  • Maintains tools and equipment so they remain in safe operating condition.
  • Works well with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Basic knowledge of repair and maintenance practices and techniques.
  • Basic knowledge in working with blueprints and drawings.
  • Ability to perform the physical tasks required to carry out job responsibilities.
  • Ability to read and understand directions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population.
  • Ability to complete the assigned tasks with minimum amount of supervision and direction.
  • Ability to provide over-time or weekend work as required.
  • Ability to maintain a valid Oregon driver' s license and meet College vehicle insurance requirements.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency, especially in email communication and the automated work order request system.
  • Ability to work on ladders and scaffolding.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum five years of experience in the field of general maintenance.
Payrate
  • Teamsters $25.49/hr

Schedule
  • 37.5 hrs/week (Full-Time)
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to work in a stooped, kneeling, crouched, or squatting position continuously.
  • Must be able to lift and carry a 50 pound weight repetitively over one-half hour periods,
  • Must be able to carry a 25 pound weight repetitively and continuously
  • Must be able to effectively and safely manipulate the tools and equipment used in assigned tasks.
