About us

Henning’s Local is based in upstate New York in the western Catskills in Sullivan County and is seeking individuals who are interested learning, and making a difference in the culinary world. At Henning’s Local we serve Norwegian Chef Henning Nordanger’s take on American Comfort Food. Henning has built long-term relationships with regional sustainable agricultural businesses, inculding farms, bakeries, wineries, distilleries and various culinary artisans throughout the Catskills and Hudson Valley. Some of the locally sourced ingredients include: trout, chicken, turkey, duck, eggs, and an abundance of fresh seasonal produce grown in Henning’s own garden and greenhouses. Additionally, we believe in making everything the right way, from scratch, including our dressings, bread, pasta, popovers, and sauces.

We are looking for an inventive Pantry Chef who has the ability to take a dish in any direction while being responsible for the quality of both the food and service. The ideal candidate will have advanced knife skills and is able to read recipes in order to clarify ingredients and instructions. This position requires someone who is comfortable working with a team under a host of time constraints. The successful candidate for this position will be held to high standards and should have advanced knife skills and be able to work well with a team.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the consistency of various food preparations within the kitchen to ensure quality product and adherence to standard recipes.
  • Prepares all cold food according to recipes, guidelines and standards set by the Head Chef.
  • Ensure assigned work area has proper level of par stocks and supplies for service.
  • Always keep all refrigeration, equipment, storage and working areas in clean, working condition in order to comply with health department regulations.
  • Visually inspect, selects and use only food items of the highest standard in the preparation of all menu items.
  • Check and control proper storage of product, checking on portion control to maintain quality product.
  • Assist in preparing cold food items like, salads, sashimi, salad dressings, pasta, desserts, and breads.
  • Properly label and date all products to ensure safekeeping and sanitation.
  • Effectively communicate with Head Chef and Sous Chef in order to maintain smooth service.
  • Responsible for assisting Head Chef in maintaining the overall cleanliness and equipment maintenance.customers.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $18.00 - $19.00 per hour
