Assures that all activities conducted in the charging process are completed in a safe, efficient manner by performing the following duties.Loads scrap, prime and other metals into furnace to achieve proper molten aluminum alloy utilizing appropriate mobile equipment.
Stirs metal bath with steel rake attached to a forklift.
Removes dross by-product from molten bath with steel rake attached to a forklift in a skimming action minimizing amount of aluminum removed and maximizing the amount of dross removed.
Loads dross pots into dross snuffers/coolers using forklift.
Empties dross pots when cooled. Draws samples using ladle.
After analysis, manually adds appropriate alloying materials are re-stirs molten bath.
Performs preventive maintenance on all mobile equipment used in the department at the start of each shift.
Removes impurity gases from bath utilizing argon or nitrogen SF6.
Cleans pipes with compressed air after finishing degassing operation.
Assists with cast run-up and shutdown.
Stages next charge by bringing prime, scrap and dealer scrap into charging area.
