Job Summary
COMPANY DESCRIPTION:
Essex Paint and Sip is in the quintessential New England town of Essex Village CT adjacent to the Essex Village Green. Essex Paint and Sip offers acrylic painting instruction with light food, beer and wine. We host 2-2.5 hour events during which patrons are provided step-by-step instruction to create their own masterpiece on canvas. Our historic building is also home to the Essex Village Post Office with our studio in full view in the most heavily trafficked building in the village.
REQUIREMENTS:
We need artists that enjoy working with people, are personable and “fun”! Most public events are 7-9:30 PM Friday, Saturday and 4-6:30 PM Sunday. However, private events can occur on Saturday and weekday afternoons, so flexibility is important to make sure our team can cover the events. This can be a second income or enable students to earn income while in school. Candidate qualifications should include most of the following: A Bachelor of Fine Arts or some formal training in the arts, experience teaching art, ability to re-create and teach other paintings, some experience in working in a bar or restaurant, reliable and timely and fun!.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
"Painting Assistants" or "Painting Leads" depending on the size of the event. You will initially work as a "Painting Assistant" until comfortable to be a "Painting Lead”. But we do expect everyone on our team to be able to instruct in front of groups of up to 30 people. When you are the Lead, you will be the primary person leading the class through the painting. You will be in front 40% of the time for a 2-2.5 hour session. As an Assistant, you will server light fare, wine, beer, and other non-alcoholic drinks (no mixed drinks) and help customers with their painting. Total worked time for each session will be approximately 4 hrs.
COMPENSATION:
As a Lead Artist for a paint session, compensation is $100 per session plus tips. Mobile paint events include additional compensation for preparation and travel.
PERKS:
Our instructors will be able to use our venue for their personal painting endeavors (in fact, it would be encouraged). We just ask that you offer to answer questions on our sessions should someone come to the door. We can display and sell your personal artwork in our studio.
Principals only.
