Floater
Responsible for supervising the children in the morning and/or aftercare program; engaging them in a variety of activities that promotes cognitive, social, emotional and physical development; and complying with all legal and regulatory requirements as outlined by DOL. This position supports the Lead Teachers and Paraprofessionals in carrying out developmentally appropriate child activities in accordance with the designated Creative Curriculum, Birth to Three Learning Standards and the HHLA Program Philosophy.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Work daily as a classroom Teacher Assistant when the Lead Teacher and/or Teacher Assistant is absent; supporting the classroom in the following areas listed below:
- Supervising children in a safe, positive and developmentally appropriate environment at all times.
- Maintain a professional attitude and respect for the school community.
- Maintain the fidelity, organization and cleanliness of the host classroom or program space.
- Engage with children during play; read to children in whole or small groups; lead or join in music and movement activities; assist in other activities as directed.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the designated curriculum.
- Assist with general housekeeping tasks.
- Assist children with self-help skills, including toilet training.
- Report to program supervisor, any incident or injury which may occur with the children.
- Participate in drop off procedures at the end of care, ensuring that each child leaves with the appropriate adult.
- Attend all staff meetings and required trainings, as assigned.
- Attend school functions, as requested.
- Perform additional program duties as designed, according to the schools needs.
- Ability to lift 40lbs.
QualificationsMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:(Must be fully met in order to qualify for position).
- High School Diploma
- CDA preferred
- Ability to work effectively under the direction of others.
- Ability to work cooperatively with others.
- Ability to behave and speak in a professional manner at all times.
- Prior documented work experience in childcare program preferred.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Ability to speak, read, write, comprehend, process, interpret follow and carry out instructions spoken in the English language and written in a variety of documents and reference relevant to the job.
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:(Optional, used to determine best match in candidates) Associates or higher in Early Childhood Education or related field and experience with Birth to Three Learning Standards, knowledge of Creative Curriculum, CDA.
