Job Description: Dually Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist/Licensed Clinical Mental Health (LCAS)-(LCMHC) or (LCAS-A – LCMHC-A)
Department: Outpatient Treatment Services
This position is responsible for the provision of all therapeutic and activities related to outpatient care. The Counselor serves as primary caregiver to assigned patients and services as a resource to other staff members regarding patient activities in the ARCA therapeutic community. The responsibilities of this position require ability to interact with diverse population groups, strong verbal communication skills, knowledge of SA treatment strategies and an understanding of a twelve-step recovery model, knowledge of federal confidentiality standards, proficient writing skills and an ability to identify and establish treatment applications. Knowledge of mental health diagnosis with reference to the DSM 5 TR Specifications.
Typical qualifications and experience for the position include:
· Licensed Substance Abuse Counselor minimum of Master’s Degree.
· Licensed Mental Health Counselor minimum of Master’s Degree
· 2 years (4000 hours) supervised substance abuse counselor experience.
· 3 years’ experience in counseling or mental health services
· Pass written exam by NCSAPPB if an associate level clinician
· Signed statements attesting to the Code of Ethical Conduct of the Board
· Knowledge of counseling theories and the helping process.
· Knowledge of twelve step self-help groups and philosophy.
· Demonstrated ability to write and use clinical documentation.
· Competent in Computer Skills
· Excellent communication skills, including listening skills and verbal interaction.
· Competent in areas that reflect specific needs of the person served
· Competent in treatment person centered plan development
· Competent in interviewing skills with clients
· Competent in program related research-based treatment approaches
Principal Accountabilities (Position Summary)
· Conducts initial assessments on patients to determine treatment appropriateness.
· Ability to dually diagnose and treat mental health and substance abuse
· Provide an array of outpatient mental health services to promote individualized patient recovery
· Provides individual counseling sessions with assigned patients for the purpose of problem identification, treatment planning, problem resolution, discharge planning, referral when indicated and aftercare activities.
· Conducts group counseling sessions and psychoeducational lecture activities.
· Follow up with Physicians and or attending physicians
· Provides written and oral correspondence regarding patient care to requesting parties (with respect to confidentiality guidelines)
· Participates in multidisciplinary case review seeking consultation and supervision regarding patient care
· Participates in ongoing training and education to enhance skills and maintain professional certifications necessary for the position
· Other duties as assigned necessary for the smooth operation of ARCA, Inc.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
