Position Summary:
The FOH Manager is responsible for monitoring the day-to-day activities of front counter personnel including, but not limited to aiding in productivity, assigning responsibility for specified work, delegating work directions, and monitoring scheduling for proper shift coverage. As the FOH Manager, you are required to coordinate and execute bakery store front operations and procedures to ensure effectiveness and efficiency, certifying that all components within the shop are functioning correctly and smoothly so that the bakery is best represented to the public on all accounts and is operating consistently up to standards. The FOH Manager is expected to identify and rectify issues immediately by directing and delegating action or providing hands-on assistance when necessary.

  • 3+ years’ experience in quick/counter service food and beverage business
  • Experience in staff management
  • Flexible schedule - *Weekend availability required*

Role & Expectations

  • Completes daily opening and/or closing procedures in accordance with company policies and procedures: ensure that staff and the bakery are setup for success and that the bakery is sanitary and closed properly and securely. Adjusts procedures when necessary.
  • Certify that cleanliness and general upkeep of the bakery, and guest contact areas are maintained.
  • Manage and actively participate in the shop to set and monitor performance standards and rectify any staff or guest issues professionally and promptly. Communicates complaints and resolutions to management or owner.
  • Maintain a collaborative relationship with BOH team members to optimize productivity and provide a seamless guest experience.
  • Manage FOH staff scheduling: ensure daily staffing is adequate to handle shop volume, time off requests, availability, messaging, communicate key announcements or updates.
  • Through leadership, consistently sets example for subordinates and ensures adherence to company standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintains and ensures front area employees always maintain personnel hygiene.
  • Encourages and develops the highest level of sales and customer service performance by all front counter employees, both part time and full time.
  • Trains new employees on policies and procedures. Ensures policies and procedures are followed by all front employees.
  • Sets example with cleanliness and organization. Ensures front area is kept neat, clean, and organized at all times. This includes behind the counter, under the counter, front cafe area and coffee station.
  • Communicates effectively with subordinates and with kitchen staff to ensure product is kept fresh and bakery cases are full at peak times.
  • Maintains confidentiality on personnel and financial matters.
  • Coordinates breaks for hourly employees and keeps management informed of activities and significant problems.
  • Maintains proper security of cash at all times including reconciling the register drawer nightly, record pertinent information in daily sales diary, ensure adequate change is available in the safe, and communicate important information to owner/and or staff.
  • Implements and maintains product rotation and excellent food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Oversees inventory of bags, coffee cups, sugar packets, beverages, ribbon, coffee/tea and coffee/tea products, soups and all soup related items, i.e. crackers, spoons, napkins, etc. and all other items associated with take-out or eat-in service. Including consolidation and organization of basement area where items are kept.
  • Inspects tables for cleanliness, both inside and outside. This includes wiping tables down, re-organizing chairs and tables, ensuring that inside and outside are swept throughout the day. Inspects bathroom for cleanliness and neatness throughout the day.
  • Communicates and follows proper safety procedures. i.e. testing soup temperatures to ensure food is out of danger zone.
  • Maintains ServSafe certification. Notifies management when certification needs to be renewed.
  • Continuously reviews front procedures and systems and recommends changes to increase efficiency.
  • Contributes ideas to assist with merchandise product flow and increase sales.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
