Executive Director of Development and Operations

Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University in Baton Rouge seeks a highly motivated, dynamic fundraiser for the position of Executive Director of Development and Fundraising Operations

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Vice President of Institutional Advancement, The Executive Director of Development and Operations is responsible for managing and supporting the fundraising team, including the Director of Grants and Sponsored Programs, the Director of Annual Giving and Alumni Relations, and the Advancement Specialist. In addition, the position is responsible for managing a strategic, comprehensive and sustainable fundraising portfolio to identify, cultivate, and secure gifts of $25,000 or more and steward donors to the University through major and planned gifts from individuals, corporations and foundations. Continually evaluates and implements necessary changes based on changing priorities and/or needs including special projects, capital campaigns and events. Serves as the department liaison to the Board Development Committee. Leads Prospect and Stewardship meetings with the Advancement team, working with all team members on agendas, meeting with individual and team goals and metrics and strategic next steps. Works with the Vice President of Institutional Advancement and other team members to approach faculty, alumni and volunteers to secure philanthropic support for the University's priorities. Provides editorial content for the University magazine and works with other advancement staff to ensure development communication is effective and relevant to target audiences. Regularly reviews and recommends updates to development communications, in conjunction with other Advancement staff and marketing, including publicizing campaigns, events, relevant donor stories, Annual Report, Newsletters, University Magazine, external communications and development of collateral needed for fundraising.

Qualifications:

Minimum of five years of successful professional fundraising (major and planned giving, annual giving or grant writing)

Campaign experience and planned giving experience as a fundraising professional preferred.

Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in a fundraising or office setting

Baccalaureate degree required, Master’s degree preferred

Strong interpersonal and writing skills

Possess the skills to motivate and work with board committee members and volunteers

Have the desire to get out of the office and build external relationships

Be a “self-starter” and goal driven to initiate donor visits and fundraising calls

Be organized and exhibit “follow through” on tasks and goals

Display a positive attitude, show concern for people and community, demonstrate presence, self-confidence, and good listening ability

Must embrace the mission of Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University

Licensure: CFRE preferred or eligible

Special Skills: Knowledge of federal and state legislation affecting charitable giving; management of volunteer resources; special events planning and management

Working Environment:

Monday-Friday

Ability to work evenings and weekends, and limited travel, when necessary

Occasional special events requiring some evenings and/or weekends
