At RedRose Montessori School, Mountain House, CA, we are looking for Food Service Teachers (Cook) who are passionate about cooking healthy and delicious meals for the little ones.

Job Type: Full Time / Part Time

Primary Responsibilities

Daily activities involve both menu development and the preparation of nutritious meals and snacks for all students.
Menus are developed through collaboration with or by the Director.
Must be aware of the children with special dietary requirements including allergies and other food restrictions, and be able to provide substitute meals for them.
Make weekly food orders.
Ensures food service area and food is free of nuts, nut products or food items that have been processed in a facility that also processes nut products. Checks all food labels upon receipt to ensure compliance with the requirement.
Prepare breakfast, lunch and snacks for all classrooms.
Serve meals to each classroom on time, at the appropriate temperature.
Work with staff to collect meal numbers before food preparation of each meal.
Follows portion control standards for lunch and snacks in preparations
Responsible for maintaining cleanliness in both the kitchen and storage. areas. Some items, such as ovens, pantries and refrigerators, need to be sanitized at regularly scheduled intervals.
Protect the privacy and confidentiality of information pertaining to families, children, team members and administration.
Attends all required staff meetings, workshops and/or school functions.
Maintains overall professional/personal appearance adhering to the guidelines offered in the RedRose Montessori School, Mountain House Employee Handbook.
Assists in other capacities that Director or an authorized person, determines is necessary.

Qualifications and Experience:
Applicants should have at least one year of experience in meal planning and preparation, knowledge of early-childhood nutrition and experience working with groups of children.
Should be able to work in a cooperative manner with other staff members, students and parents.
Must be able to work safely around stoves and chemicals while having the physical endurance to spend many hours standing, walking and lifting heavy objects.
Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. in connection with the handling of children for the facilitation of programs, child safety, and potential emergency situations
