Job Title: Food Service Coordinator

Reports To: Head of School

Job Overview: Full Time; Non-Exempt

We seek staff persons who can help fulfill the goal of making the LIFE aspiration a reality for our students. Considering the uniqueness of a culturally diverse building that is single gender focused, teachers who become part of our team will exhibit a demonstrated commitment to our particular student population and a desire to become more appropriately equipped with knowledge and resources to support this dynamic population. In addition, the STEAM focus of the school necessitate that the instructional staff are highly collaborative and innovative in creating lessons that promote the breadth of and integrated STEAM world.

The primary function of all staff is to develop an atmosphere where students’ cultural backgrounds are seen as assets and their potential is uncovered daily. The Food Service Coordinator is responsible for coordinating food preparation for the students. The Food Service Coordinator plans, prepares and/or coordinates the preparation of main entrees or plans and/or prepares and serves all meals and snacks.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree
  • Supplemental course work, experience or training in institutional cooking and supervision is required
  • Current Approved Pennsylvania Food Handlers Certification
  • Equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered qualifying experience
  • Knowledge of nutrition requirements and principles of good nutrition and quantity food preparation and service
  • Knowledge of food ordering and storage methods
  • Knowledge of proper operation and maintenance of food service equipment
  • Knowledge of food handling, safety and sanitation standards and techniques
  • Knowledge of Federal and State laws and regulations governing child nutrition programs such as USDA donated food usage and free and reduced meals programs for students
  • Knowledge of Inventory and record-keeping procedures
  • Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates all food planning, ordering and preparation connected with the meals and snacks for the students
  • Keeps accurate food production records for State Educational Department and the Child and Adult Food and Nutrition Program
  • Takes all required tests and receives necessary certification for the Child and Adult Food and Nutrition Program

Physical Requirements:

Physical strength and agility are required to reach and lift kitchen equipment and supplies. Working conditions include working in a warm environment and standing for extended periods. Positions may require the ability to work varied shifts.

Job Types: Contract, Part-time

Pay: $20,000.00 - $25,000.00 per year
