Description/Job Summary

RHD Cedar Park is looking for a part time cook 20-25 hours per week

An indirect care position, that requires a working knowledge of the proper storage, preparation and cooking of food. Preparing and cooking meals for twenty-two female participants, ensuring that waste is kept to a minimum. Ensuring that the kitchen, pantry, and all equipment are ready for inspection by License and Inspection (L&I). The individual in this position must be flexible and demonstrate a willingness to learn and apply new ideas to this position. Position requires light to heavy lifting at times. This individual must be committed to RHD's values in performing all job duties.

Responsibilities/Duties

• Prepare meals for participants according to planned menu, special dietary needs and nutritional restrictions.
• Clean equipment and kitchen appliances (i.e. stove/oven, microwave, refrigerators, freezers, etc.)
• Create weekly menus
• Ensure the kitchen is operating according to ServSafe standards
• Adhere to food budget
• Rotate food items when new order is due
• Conduct weekly inventory to identify outdated food and create weekly menus based on items available
• Ability to work flexible schedule

Required Experience

One year experience working in a cooking position.

Required Education

High School diploma/GED

Required Qualifications

• Knowledge of food preparation
• ServSafe certification or ability to acquire ServSafe certification
• Driver's License
• Skilled in the use, operation, and maintenance of kitchen equipment
• Ability to perform work requiring considerable standing and light to medium physical effort

Program Summary

Cedar Park is a residential facility for homeless women diagnosed with mental illness and/or substance abuse. The staff at Cedar Park strives to help each woman increase her awareness of her illness, and identify meaningful goals for recovery. Each woman is encouraged and supported in working toward a more self-sufficient life, which may include employment and more independent living.

RHD employees and programs in the City of Philadelphia are required to follow the COVID vaccine mandate. Revised PDPH guidance allows for new hires to be partially vaccinated at the time of hire. This means they have received at least one shot in a two-dose series or a single dose in a one-dose series before beginning in-person shifts. The final dose must be received within4 weeks of hire (start date). This currently does not include boosters
