The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual to take on the dynamic role as a Fiscal Technician 2 within Headquarters Payroll - Business Services Unit. This is a full-time, permanent position, located at Department of Corrections Headquarters in Tumwater, Washington.

As a member of the DOC Business Services Payroll Team, and under the direction of the Agency Payroll Officer, this position supports the Department's goals and objectives by developing systems and processes that ensure that every paycheck created will be treated as if it were their own and that the fiscal responsibilities the State of Washington are met with the highest level of integrity.

- Independently process, scan and save all documents (i.e., Payroll file documents to include schedule change notices, IRS forms, Retirement, Medical, etc) from the paper version of payroll files and Outlook File Folders into OnBase, referencing State payroll file and DOC Payroll established OnBase guidelines, policy, and retention schedules in order to process the existing paper file to be unloaded into OnBase. Save documents according to the OnBase guidelines.
- Provides input to problems to Assistant Agency Payroll Officer, Agency Payroll Officer and/or Business Service Executive Leadership Team regarding statewide impact.
- Ensures complex records being scanned are accurately maintained within OnBase prior to request to destroy paper file.
- Maintain confidentiality of utmost importance.
- Convert documents to PDF format if necessary.
- Use appropriate naming conventions to scan and save documents into OnBase.
- Work collaboratively with other clerical staff to ensure files are correctly scanned and saved.
- Prepares and processes Bank Deposits Daily.
- Incoming and Outgoing Daily Mail Processing.
- Prepare and Upload A-19’s and JV’s to AFRS.
- Under supervision of Assistant Agency Payroll Officer, coordinate and complete Public Records Request.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School graduate or equivalent
Desired Qualifications:
- A business focused Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university whose accreditation is recognized by the US Department of Education and the Council of Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or foreign equivalent, with minimum 20 accounting credits to include Accounting 201, 202, 203 and Governmental Accounting.
- Six (6) months or more experience using copy machines and scanners. Professional work experience using OnBase or a similar scanning/archiving system.
- Intermediate proficiency with Adobe Acrobat Pro and Microsoft Excel.
- Two (2) years progressive clerical experience.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Word.
- Highly organized multitasker who works well in a fast-paced environment.

Telework Details
This position may be eligible to telework after initial in-office training is complete. Work may be performed from your home or another offsite location within the state of Washington using a reliable internet or cellular hotspot service. Employees are expected to perform assigned duties in a safe manner, to take proper care all state-issued equipment, and maintain confidentiality of all information in possession while working offsite. Employees will be required to commute to a Department of Corrections facility as business requires.
