POSITION SUMMARY:

The Financial Coach (FC) will be responsible for assisting and guiding participants through the AVANCE Houston’s Financial Stability Program. Financial Coach will lead participants through monthly financial awareness workshops. Will hold participants accountable to the goals outlined in their specific plan. Conduct one on one monthly follow ups with participants. FC will coordinate with local experts and schedule monthly financial awareness workshops. Encourage participants through the program, and acknowledge benchmark achievements. The Financial Coach will work with participants to develop their own individualized plan to improve spending habits, reduce debit, create a savings system, investments, understanding credit and how it functions for them, and future financial endeavors. The Financial Coach will advertise the program at local community events, schools, and AVANCE Centers. Will assist in highlighting participants at their completion of the program.

JOB FUNCTION:
  • Provides great customer service to all participants with comprehensive case management services that include personal advocacy, and situational transportation, and referral services based upon the participants needs.
  • Assist Participants in developing a personal financial plan through an assessment. Follow-ups are required.
  • Provide action plans for participants based up on their specific financial plan.
  • Document all referrals and follow-up efforts in the participants personal tracking file.
  • Assists families in developing goals and objectives; Monitor any accomplishments of their goals and objectives.
  • Monitors, evaluates and modifies participants plan as needed.
  • Ensures that individuals and families receive adequate financial supportive services through referrals in our local community.
  • Complies and assist with obtaining all MIS (CAP 60) data as required. (Intake forms, waivers, surveys, assessments)
  • Makes required number of contacts (2) with each participant each quarter. Some may have additional contacts due to follow-up services.
  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation and narrative reports in each participant’s file folder. Individual files are subject for random review by the Director or assigned staff member after the first 30 days of program entry and thereafter.
  • Participates in meetings, briefing, and brainstorming sessions for events, assessments, and new ideas.
  • Participates in scheduled client staffing, as needed.
  • Participates and assist program with the enrollment process, recruiting throughout the community for the program, special events, schools, churches, etc…
  • Responsible for attendance records at each workshop. Also responsible for any follow-ups regarding participants missing a workshop, and rescheduling.
  • Attend local, regional and national training activities to constantly improve financial awareness.
  • Prepares all educational material (i.e., handouts and overhead transparencies) for lectures, presentations, and other types of educational or assigned activities.
  • Prepare a comprehensive monthly report of all service activities for your designated initiative of the program.
  • Assists in providing program overview to Head Start parents, Parent Committee/Policy Council members, parent Child Education Program participants, and other visitors as assigned. Responsible for identifying and attending these agency events.
  • Establish and cultivate partnerships with local financial experts: banks, money management, etc…
  • Researches community resources quarterly for additional service opportunities for all participants.
  • Upon approval of the Director, implement new ideas that will benefit the individuals that the program serves.
  • Be innovative in creating plans for participants.
  • Host monthly financial workshop around one of the trending areas to support financial improvement; Any other schedule arrangements must be approved by Director.
