Financial Analyst, Studio Operations Group FP&A
Job description
The Studio Operations Group (SOG) FP&A team is seeking to hire a Financial Analyst (FA) to support its portfolio of production, post production and worldwide distribution operations businesses. Together, these operations provide the services required to create, edit and deliver studio content across all media platforms, globally. The FA will act as the point of contact for all centralized FP&A functions across the SOG portfolio and will report to the Finance Director.
Responsibilities:
- Support the SOG Annual Budget, Quarterly Forecast and Mid-Range Planning processes by consolidating financial projections from each of the businesses and preparing financial statements, reconciliations and presentations for executive review.
- Own both the Divisional and Corporate budget and forecast submission processes for all SOG operating units.
- Seek opportunities to further standardize and streamline planning processes across SOG businesses and develop new planning tools.
- Liaise with Accounting to review actual performance relative to budgets and forecasts to explain headcount, P&L, cash flow and balance sheet causes of change and reconciliations.
- Compile, reconcile and review operational plans with business leaders.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of the business and proactively engage with stakeholders to understand business drivers, develop insightful analyses and help them achieve their business objectives.
- Provide ad hoc business analyses to improve performance across the SOG portfolio.
- Demonstrate strong presentation, verbal and written communication skills.
- Communicate effectively and collaborate cross-functionally with various corporate, P&O, Finance, Accounting, IT and operating divisions.
- Produce high quality, accurate work product in a results-oriented environment
Skills:
- Knowledge of the media and entertainment industry, primarily production, post-production, and content distribution a big plus.
- Proven ability to think through complex issues in a constructive manner to recommend and effect appropriate actions and solutions.
- Advanced financial modeling skills, capable of building DCF, NPV, ROI and complex ad hoc models.
- Strong organizational, project management, critical and strategic thinking, problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Demonstrate effective time management skills with the ability to prioritize, handle multiple deliverables, while meeting deadlines.
- Driven and self-motivated with high standards and excellent work ethic.
- Resourceful self-starter with the ability to problem solve with minimal executive guidance.
- Meticulous attention to detail and takes pride in work product.
- Exhibit strong understanding of finance and working knowledge of accounting concepts (GAAP/IFRS standards and compliance matters).
- Strong interpersonal/communication skills to collaborate effectively and professionally within the organization and with external stakeholders.
- Proven ability to perform well both autonomously and as a team.
Qualifications:
- 1- 3 years of practical work experience in analytical roles, preferably Corporate Finance, Investment Banking, Business Planning and/or Consulting.
- Entertainment industry experience preferred; Big 4/Consulting experience a plus.
- Data visualization, data analytics, Tableau, Power BI, Advanced MS Excel and Macro experience.
- B.S. or B.A. in Finance, Business, Mathematics or Economics preferred.
