Job Title: Financial Analyst

Department: Dual Role between Underwriting and Portfolio Management

Reports To: Senior Vice President – Credit Administration

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Hours 7/8:30 am – 4/5:30 pm Monday – Friday*

Location Ann Arbor, MI 48105 (In Office)

SUMMARY

This position will be accountable and responsible for commercial credit analysis and portfolio risk monitoring.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Support credit and portfolio management functions while maintaining, expanding and building internal and external relationships, resulting in a high degree of customer satisfaction.

  • Prepare periodic reviews of borrower status and compliance and document findings in various risk reporting formats.
  • Input and track status for items such as risk ratings, periodic loan reviews, site inspections, property tax status, troubled loan reporting classification, Default Management Services, loan delinquencies, loan loss reserve requirements, etc.
  • Oversee delinquent loan billing, production, mailing, etc.
  • Evaluate collateral values of properties securing loans, including reviewing for accuracy and completeness various due diligence reports such as appraisals, environmental assessments, etc.
  • Actively participate with current and prospective borrowers in the negotiation of loan structures and risk mitigation requirements. Partner with and provide expertise to other team members.
  • Participate in the over-sight of asset based financing program including evaluation and funding of receivables, verification and due diligence activities and all associated risk management and reporting functions.
  • Analyze credit data and financial statements to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money to current or prospective borrowers. Prepare reports with this credit information for use in decision-making.
  • Utilize spreadsheet programs to generate financial ratios, trend lines, etc. to evaluate prospective borrowers’ financial status and their performance against peer groups.
  • Consult with customers to resolve concerns and verify financial and credit transactions.
  • Review borrower files and portfolio reports to participate in collection efforts and determination of loan work out plans.
  • Participate in the creation and maintenance of software programs to appropriately manage portfolio risk of borrowers.
  • Participate in the pipe-line tracking process and coordination of request packages for Underwriter review.
  • Maintain credit files in accordance with format and retention guidelines.
  • Perform other credit and risk management duties as required.

Success in this position is primarily measured as the quality, accuracy and timeliness of services rendered, effective monitoring of risk, effective communication of the risk findings through reports, as well as the visible demonstration of company values.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Formal credit training program and one to three years of commercial credit analysis experience preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before members or employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

TECHNOLOGY SKILLS

Strong experience with spreadsheet programs including near expert Excel knowledge and other Microsoft Office solutions.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $49,000.00 - $60,500.00 per year
