The Field Museum is a not-for-profit organization located on the Museum Campus of Chicago. Since the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition, we have conducted research across all seven continents and accumulated a collection of over 40 million specimens and artifacts.


The Field Museum is searching for a Field Trip Experiences Facilitator to join our team!


The Field Trip Experiences Facilitator’s primary role is to provide programmatic support for a variety of School Learning programs for Pre-K-12th grade Illinois students, particularly for field trips to the museum. The Field Trip Experiences Facilitator sits in the Learning Center and reports to the Field Trip Experiences Educator. They work closely with members of the School Learning Experiences team, the Public Learning Experiences team, the Learning Center Program Assistants, as well as the Visitor Services Department. The position is responsible for the welcoming process for all Pre-K-12th grade Illinois student groups that visit the museum on field trips, learning experiences at the museum, supporting school partnership programs, and supporting off-site events for schools.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The Field Trip Experiences Facilitator is responsible for greeting, welcoming, and facilitating orientation for school groups as they arrive for field trips (which may take place outside of the museum in varying weather on busy days), operational support for coat check and lunch distribution for student groups, and prepping materials for field trips. This individual will also facilitate experiences in exhibit halls, student classes, and other programmatic activities for field trips and maintain inventory for the program supplies
  • The Field Trip Experiences Facilitator will ensure the safety of all guests and follow museum safety and emergency protocols as needed, and will maintain clear communication with field trip stakeholders, including School Learning Experiences staff, Visitor Services staff, and Protection Services.
  • The Field Trip Experiences Facilitator will support off-site school partnerships by facilitating classroom workshop visits led by the School Partnerships Educator, prep materials for partnership programs, and support partnership school field trips and science nights
  • The Field Trip Experiences Facilitator will support all other School Learning Experiences programs, including materials prep and facilitation for off-site programs and promotional events, teacher professional development, and on- and off-site classes as needed


Qualifications:

  • The Field Trip Experiences Educator must be comfortable working directly with the general public, Pre-K-12th grade Illinois students, and Field Museum members, partners, and supporters. Candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education, science, history, or social science
  • The ideal candidate for this position will enjoy welcoming, engaging, and interacting with both individuals and groups of all ages in a fast-paced environment and have experience working in an education-based non-profit organization.Preference will be given to candidates who are proficient in English and Spanish or other languages
  • The ideal candidate for this position is timely, organized, and reliable. They should identify as self-motivated and solutions-oriented–remaining flexible when navigating day-to-day challenges and proactive when identifying solutions
