JOB SUMMARY:
Performs work associated with the repair, maintenance and construction of city streets and the city storm sewer system including creek and stream maintenance.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs manual and equipment assisted activities to maintain, repair and construct existing streets both asphalt and concrete, curbs and gutters, drainage systems, culverts, parking lots, repairs pot holes, crack sealing, saw cutting etc.
- Operates dump trucks to haul materials, trash, etc., steel wheel roller, pickup truck, jack hammer, and various power tools as assigned.
- Operates light vehicle and radio and performs operator's maintenance on vehicle.
- Places and gathers cones, flags, set out traffic signs, etc.
- Records and reports job status and condition of equipment used.
- Performs other duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS:
High school education or equivalent. Must have a valid Texas Class “A” commercial driver’s license and Class “D” Water Distribution License, or obtain required licenses within one (1) year of employment. Communicate in English, clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Lifting loads up to 50 lbs. (measuring up to 36”); carrying 50 lbs. (up to 15 feet); pushing/pulling 20 lbs.; gripping/rotating hand tools; stair/step climbing (accessing truck); walking; sitting; standing; near/far vision; working in outside temperatures including excess heat, cold, and precipitation.
