Faculty Instructor Part-Time

The University of Pittsburgh School of Computing and Information seeks exceptional candidates for a Part-Time Instructor position. We are looking for an individual who can teach (and assess student learning) course LIS 2671 Digital Humanities in an online only modality. This position is outside of the tenure stream and has a duration of one term.


Required Qualifications

  • Hold a PhD in Library and Information Science by the start of the position.

  • Evidence of the ability to teach LIS 2671 Digital Humanities. The goal of this course is to study, critique, and engage in the production of digital humanities scholarship. Students in this course will examine how information professionals are situated within this area of academic inquiry as researchers, collaborators, and stewards. A range of digital humanities projects and digital tools, including the potential uses of each in library and archival settings, will be explored. This course is offered in an online-only modality and is designed to be interactive with students. Over the course of the term, students will complete their own individual projects, using digital tools to investigate research questions, periodically providing peer feedback, and reflecting on their own processes.

  • Demonstrated ability to teach a graduate-level advanced elective course taught in an online-only modality.
