SQP has an immediate opening for an Estimating Assistant to support new commercial construction projects in West Virginia. As an entry level opportunity within our Estimating Team, the right candidate will receive on the job training designed to further their career in construction estimation, which may lead to a future promotion to Junior Estimator. JOB DESCRIPTION

As an important member of our Estimating Team, the Estimating Assistant has the responsibility of aiding with the review, preparation and completion of all bid documents and responses for projects in multiple disciplines such as vertical construction, civil construction, infrastructure projects and industrial construction. This position reports directly to the Senior Estimator with responsibilities including but not limited to:

• Review bid specifications and follow directions to compile the bid with all necessary documentation as required
• Assist Estimator in preparing estimates and in writing all bid responses, both electronically and by hand
• Contact and verify potential bids from subcontractors and vendors
• Communicate with client, subcontractors, and vendors as directed by the Estimator
• Assist in forecasting project timelines
• Assist with scheduling meetings and collaboration between engineers, architects, clients, subcontractors, owners, etc.
• Assist in the project handoff and setup with operations team
• Perform additional duties as assigned

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS

• 1+ years of experience in a commercial construction administrative role and a strong interest in estimating
• Exceptional reading comprehension skills
• Strong foundation in mathematics
• Excellent verbal and written product; clean and legible handwriting
• Attention to detail
• Basic knowledge of blueprints and technical documents
• Understanding of construction industry terminology
• Exceptional IT skills - Microsoft Office Suite (required); experience with estimating software (ProEst) and project management software (Procore) is a plus
• Ability to prioritize workload and deliver results on strict deadlines
• Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent experience in lieu of degree

This position has a benefits package including medical, dental, vision, short and long term disability, life insurance and 401K with a $35-$50k starting salary dependent upon experience.
