Basic Function
HF Sinclair in El Dorado, KS is seeking an Environmental Associate. The Environmental Associate will conduct administrative and clerical assignments for the environmental department under limited supervision.
Job Duties
- Acts as document and record control coordinator for the assigned Department, managing and maintaining compliance with facility policy and document integrity including procedures, forms and plans
- Audits departmental records and files to ensure compliance in regulations as needed
- Maintains departmental files, correspondence preparation and coordination, and all other administrative duties for the department on an as needed basis
- Coordinates and liaises with outside contractors, engineering and operations as needed to gather data for compliance reporting
- Examines data for precision, accuracy, consistency, comparability, and correctness.
- Using the electronic Environmental management information system (EMIS) analyzes Environmental data and prepares statistical analyses, tabular summaries, charts, graphs, and reports to present incident findings.
- Tracks Environmental action items and checklists in the EMIS
- Assures that all required environmental data is stored and retrieved by approved personnel only.
- Processes, indexes, and tracks all incoming and outgoing environmental correspondence in both hard copy and electronic format
- Archives and maintains archived records
- Processes work requests ensuring appropriate cost coding is utilized and orders work materials through SAP
- Performs everyday office responsibilities (i.e., phones, scanning, faxes, copying, filing, mail, typing, data entry, etc.)
- Orders and manages office supply inventory, and Nomex uniforms, checking tracking and delivery for assigned department or facility
- Enters and maintains exception time reporting records for the assigned Department
- At times, relocates boxed files and document from one location to another as needed
Experience
A minimum of three years EHS-related work experience is required.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
Experience in EHS-related work in petroleum refining, petrochemical, or oil and gas pipeline industries is preferred.
Education Level
A minimum of an Associate Degree in Accounting, Computer Science, or related field is required.
PREFERRED EDUCATION:
A Bachelor's Degree in a related technical field is preffered.
Required Skills
Ability to effectively communicate with others, both written and verbal communication. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. Intermediate reading and writing skills. Ability to apply basic clerical and data entry assignments based on pre-established guidelines. Working knowledge of basic office software applications and other local and corporate system interfacing. Good time management, priority setting, planning, organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills. Ability to handle multi-task situations with heavy volume of a variety of duties; adjust to changing priorities and maintain several projects at one time and be aware of timing deadlines. Ability to write clearly and compose a variety of documents. Ability to use sound judgment and decision-making skills. Knowledge of company policies and procedures. Ability to use customer service and interpersonal skills to solve problems. Detail oriented self-starter, team player and independent worker.
Must be experienced with Microsoft Office applications. Ability to use computer programs and effectively communicate with others, both written and verbal communication.
Supervisory/Managerial Responsibility
None.
Work Conditions
Office based with up to 3% travel by land and air required. Petroleum refinery, warehouse/plant environment, out-of-doors, and driver based environment including but not limited to chemicals, pressure vessels, tanks, and rotating equipment, loud noises, vibrations, fumes or airborne particles. Subject to all temperatures, weather and varying road conditions.
Physical Requirements
Job conditions require walking, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, making precise hand and finger movements, reaching or grasping, and perceiving color differences. Job conditions may require standing, walking, lifting and/or carrying up to 25 lbs, pushing and/or pulling up to 25 lbs, and climbing up to 6 ft, and wearing personal protective equipment (beards not permitted).
