Now hiring for Environmental Assistant
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Director of Environmental Services, the Environmental Assistant daily responsibilities include cleaning and sanitizing rooms or other assigned areas, floor care, preventive maintenance, and removing debris. Specific duties include dusting and polishing, cleaning all furniture and accessories, moving furniture, assisting with landscaping, washing windows and mirrors, removing any stains or marks, cleaning carpets, buffing floors, painting, and emptying all trash. Environmental Assistants clean and sanitize bathing spaces, sinks and toilets; vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping are also included in their duties.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Cleaning resident rooms and other interior and exterior facility areas and assisting in maintaining a clean and attractive environment for the residents
- Carrying out the assigned duties and responsibilities in accordance with current existing federal and state regulations and established company policies and procedure
- Assist with landscaping tasks, mowing, trimming, planting, etc.
- Maintain/repair/clean windows and screens.
- Clean and/or paint exterior surfaces as needed.
- Replace burned out light bulbs in all areas of the facility.
- Clean/change air filters.
- Clean/vacuum refrigerator/freezer coils and compressors.
- Test and record water temperatures.
- Ensure fire extinguishers are current and in proper working order.
- Assist Maintenance Director as appropriate
- Other duties assigned by the Director of Environmental Services
Requirements:
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
- Must display professionalism both in appearance and attitude.
- Must genuinely care for and understand the elderly and other persons with various disabilities.
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with peers, residents, family members, visitors, government agency personnel and the general public.
- Must possess the ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel.
- Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
- Must have patience, tact, a positive disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult people.
