Education/experience

Job Summary
As part of a one-stop approach to enrollment management, this position will assist, as needed, in all aspects of enrollment services as a primary contact for prospective students. Reporting to the Director of Admissions, the Enrollment Counselor is responsible for providing comprehensive services to students and their families in the areas of admissions, registration, and financial aid. Through oversight of prospect generation, recruitment travel, outreach, and yield efforts related to both students and families, this position will establish initiatives to meet programmatic recruitment goals.

The Enrollment Counselor will be expected to engage in recruitment travel (including evening, weekend, and overnight); conduct recruitment presentations; serve as an ambassador for Radford University Carilion to visiting prospective students and families; as well as advise potential students on admissions procedures, policies, and pathways. The Enrollment Counselor will develop an in-depth understanding of enrollment practices, institutional policies, and program offerings in order to effectively recruit students.

The position will also provide information related to financial aid, scholarships, transfer evaluations, and registration to prospective students. The Enrollment Counselor must provide exceptional customer service and a proactive approach to serving students through the admissions process, continually identifying opportunities for improvement.

The ideal candidate must possess a genuine desire to represent Radford University Carilion and take joy in educating, empowering, and partnering with a diverse population of potential students and their families. Build sustainable relationships and engage potential students by providing a partnership between enrollment management, financial aid, admissions, and the registrar’s office. Be available to attend on-site, off-site, and virtual events to support enrollment initiatives and travel in and out of state, as needed.

Required Qualifications

Earned a bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution or equivalent education, training, and experience.

Must hold a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.

Must be able to conduct travel for recruitment.

Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.

Ability to provide direct outreach through excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Manage multiple tasks and work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Strong organizational skills and ability to focus on details to oversee a recruitment territory.

Have a high level of energy, enthusiasm, and professionalism.

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated relevant experience in Admissions, Marketing, or related field.

Experience working with a Student Information System ( SIS ) and a Customer Relations Management ( CRM ) software.

Experience in developing and managing presentations through public speaking with diverse constituencies.

Prior experience in admissions, student services, or related higher education settings.
