Positions that are posted after the school year has begun are all considered temporary.

JOB GOALS:
- Identifies students who are eligible for services of the ELL program.
- Responsible for the education of limited-English-proficient (Students Acquiring English).
- Trains and utilizes bilingual instructional assistants.
- Provides support services to staff for the instruction of identified ELL students.
- Develop a positive working relationship with students, staff, administration, parents and community.
ESSENTIAL REQUIRMENTS:
- Holds a valid Oregon Teaching license and ELL endorsement.
- Ability to write, speak, and understand a second language.
- Possesses knowledge of the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of children.
- Possesses knowledge of best instructional assessment practices necessary to assist students with limited English proficiency in reaching the content and performance standards as established by the Oregon Educational Act for the 21st Century.
- Possess knowledge of effective behavior management methods.
- Possess functional computer literacy, knowledge of word processing and an understanding of how computers can assist instruction.
- Maintains satisfactory attendance as defined in District policy and regulations.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for identifying, through the Priority Process, the "most in-need" students.
- Designs, teaches and coordinates staff development activities that help staff improve learning for ELL students.
- Meets and instructs assigned class(es) in the location(s) and at time(s) designated.
- Provides developmentally appropriate learning experiences that allow all children to build upon their prior knowledge and current skill level.
- Takes all reasonable precautions to provide a safe, secure learning environment.
- Encourages students to set and maintain high standards of academic achievement.
- Guides the learning process by setting educational goals for each child's development and evaluates his/her linguistic and academic progress through testing and observation.
- Works constructively with colleagues and others for the purpose of establishing realistic and meaningful goals for students acquiring English.
- Evaluates instructional materials in terms of the student's linguistic, cultural, and intellectual characteristics and needs.
- Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and modifies services or provides alternative instruction when necessary.
- Incorporates multicultural educational practices into the instructional program.
- Provides translation between non-English speakers and others as appropriate.
- Maintains records on each student which include: attendance, linguistic data, goals, work samples, evidence of language core content instruction, etc., as required by law and by district policy.
- Provides documentation to substantiate/support meeting state guidelines for language assistance services as required by the Oregon Department of Education.
- Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the District and/or in self-selected professional growth activities.
- Collaborates on professional development, materials development and program development planning with other personnel serving ELL students.
- Maintains professional confidentiality concerning individual student data and achievement.
- Identifies and refers students who need additional services and support.
- Develops and implements parent involvement strategies and activities to comply with state and federal laws.
- Creates an environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
- Maintains a high level of professional integrity by adhering to the Teacher Standards and Practices requirements for an Ethical Educator, (as written in the Staff Handbook) as well as board Policy and State Law.
- Participates in various meetings (g. staff, team, parent conferences, in-service training, etc.) for the purpose of receiving and/or providing information or sharing expertise.
- Performs such other duties as may be assigned by the Board or Administration.
