The California State University, Dominguez Hills Toro Auxiliary Partners was incorporated in 1968 as a partner of the University to provide services and develop and enhance programs that are an integral part of the University's educational mission. CSU Dominguez Hills is a highly diverse, metropolitan university primarily serving the South Bay area of Los Angeles County. Established in 1960, CSU Dominguez Hills is one of the 23 campuses that comprise the California State University system.
About the Position
The primary responsibilities for the Employer Development Specialist include the development of employer partnerships resulting in job opportunities for students and graduates. Under the direction of the Director of the Workforce Integration Network, the Employer Development Specialist will conduct outreach and communicate with employers, expanding the employer database. Meet with employers, private industry councils, workforce development agencies, chamber of commerce, economic development boards and other professional groups. Develop and deliver presentations and participate in networking opportunities to cultivate employment opportunities and educate students. Assist employers with utilization of Handshake, on-line recruiting system, as well as use and manage other technical platforms to support student and alumni success. Cultivate new employer participation in career fairs, career events, employer panels, on-campus recruiting, job postings and network sessions. Research apprenticeship trends and identify emerging opportunities Assist employers with recruitment strategies, plans and access to students/graduates.
Position Information
Employment at Toro Auxiliary Partners is on an at-will basis and can be terminated by either an employee or Toro Auxiliary Partners at any time with or without cause or advance notice. Permanent status can neither be obtained nor granted.
This is a Full-time, non-exempt, benefited position employer-sponsored health, dental vision, life insurance, retirement program and vacation pay.
Salary: $62,000
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
OUTREACH
- Independently conduct outreach, employer and job development activities, meeting/connecting with employers, private industry councils, workforce development agencies, chamber of commerce, economic development boards, other professional groups and faculty and students.
- Develop and deliver presentations, participate in networking functions and cultivate new relationships with employers and recruiters.
- Engage employers, develop strategies to maximize employment opportunities and create jobs in targeted areas and markets. This includes career, internship, apprenticeships, co-op, summer jobs, fellowships, and experiential opportunities.
- Develop collaborative and supportive working relationships with employers and alumni, assisting with recruitment strategies, plans and access to student groups/organizations. Make phone calls, conduct site visits, attend meetings and conferences. Assist in securing employer sponsorships and corporate support.
- Regularly report on outreach strategies, target areas, identification of new employers, progress with leads, contacts, results and employer recruiting involvement.
- Research and analyze both future trends and historical data to inform apprenticeship pathways.
- Bachelor's degree and in human resources, marketing, public relations, or a related field.
- Three years of progressively responsible experience.
- Thorough knowledge of web communication techniques, vehicles and formats. Ability to effectively use web technology and various platforms to achieve goals.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, including strong public speaking, listening and interpretive skills.
- Demonstrated skills in an institutional/educational environment utilizing a customer-oriented and service-centered attitude.
- Excellent communication skills; ability to effectively communicate information in a clear and understandable manner, both verbally and in writing.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to set own priorities to coordinate multiple assignments with fluctuating and time-sensitive deadlines.
- Excellent computer skills and proficiency with a variety of computer applications including word-processing, spreadsheets, databases, on-line systems, Internet as well as online calendaring and email.
- Possession of a valid driver's license or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
