Join our team developing next-generation commercial radar solutions!

Echodyne is seeking an Electrical Engineer with experience in mixed signal circuit design on printed circuit assemblies to join our team working in a fast-paced environment developing high-performance commercial radar solutions.

Echodyne offers the world’s first compact solid-state true beam-steering radar for a wide range of industries and applications. Our high-performance radars work in all weather and are designed for autonomous vehicles, uncrewed aircraft & drones, and security of borders, critical infrastructure, and smart cities. The company combines the patented technology of metamaterials with powerful software to create a radar sensor with unprecedented performance at commercial price points. Echodyne offers its radars to companies working in Automotive, Transportation, Critical Infrastructure Protection, Border Security, Smart Cities, Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS), and Airspace Management including Urban Air Mobility (UTM).

At the foundation of every radar design is an electrical design comprised of a range of mixed-signal technologies, including RF, power deliver, high-speed interfaces, and high-performance digital processing. These electrical circuits are implemented as a system of Printed Circuit Board assemblies that must be manufacturable, cost effective, and perform reliably.

As an Electrical Test Engineer, you will play a key role in breathing life into all new electrical assemblies destined for production. In each phase of development, you will both contribute to and learn from challenging problems in troubleshooting complex mixed signal circuit designs related to state-of-the-art radar while also architecting and executing repeatable tests on circuits ranging from prototypes to multi-board integrations.

Responsibilities:

This position will be responsible for the creation and execution of electronics tests in support of new product development.

  • Design, plan, and perform measurements and integrated tests on mixed signal electrical subassemblies including creation and execution of Designs of Experiments (DOE)
  • Report bugs and observations to the bug-reporting tool, providing information to recreate the issue or abnormality observed
  • Aid in the transition of development test architectures and procedures to the production manufacturing and test automation team

Required skills / experience:

  • Experience using digital and analog test equipment such as logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, signal generators, load simulators, spectrum analyzers, and power meters
  • Knowledge of standard performance metrics for DC voltage regulation and distribution subsystems, low-speed signaling protocols, and how to access them through measurement
  • Ability to read and understand circuit schematics and assembly drawings, and to identify components and circuits based on their schematical representation
  • Able to develop tests, document procedures and report results after starting with little more than a schematic and a specification
  • Ability to troubleshoot analog/mixed signal circuits to the component level to facilitate identification of faults in design, manufacture, or rework
  • Knowledge of Design-For-Test (DFT) best practices for dense PCBAs and ability to advise the design process to support

Desired skills / experience:

  • Experience with scientific coding suite for data analysis such as MATLAB or python
  • Proficiency in electronics assembly, especially including hand soldering for reworking PCB assemblies and documenting rework procedures

Qualifications:

  • BS Degree in Engineering or Physics
  • 2+ years lab experience testing printed circuit assemblies

Echodyne’s technology is export controlled by the U.S. Government and we must evaluate an applicant’s eligibility to handle export-controlled information or obtain required Government authorizations. Therefore, we will ask you as part of the application process to identify whether you are a U.S. Citizen or green card holder, or have asylum/refugee status in the U.S.

What We Offer:

  • Incentive stock options
  • Excellent health benefits
  • Company paid disability and life insurance
  • Flexible time off – Generous paid time off, office closure days and sick leave
  • Lots of healthy snack options
  • Locker rooms/showers
  • Fun company events
