Job description
Join our team developing next-generation commercial radar solutions!
Echodyne is seeking an Electrical Engineer with experience in mixed signal circuit design on printed circuit assemblies to join our team working in a fast-paced environment developing high-performance commercial radar solutions.
Echodyne offers the world’s first compact solid-state true beam-steering radar for a wide range of industries and applications. Our high-performance radars work in all weather and are designed for autonomous vehicles, uncrewed aircraft & drones, and security of borders, critical infrastructure, and smart cities. The company combines the patented technology of metamaterials with powerful software to create a radar sensor with unprecedented performance at commercial price points. Echodyne offers its radars to companies working in Automotive, Transportation, Critical Infrastructure Protection, Border Security, Smart Cities, Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS), and Airspace Management including Urban Air Mobility (UTM).
At the foundation of every radar design is an electrical design comprised of a range of mixed-signal technologies, including RF, power deliver, high-speed interfaces, and high-performance digital processing. These electrical circuits are implemented as a system of Printed Circuit Board assemblies that must be manufacturable, cost effective, and perform reliably.
As an Electrical Engineer at Echodyne, you will play a key role in our ability to bring new designs to market and sustain those already released to production. In each of the lifecycle phases you will both contribute to and learn from solving challenging problems in the realm of meeting the most cutting-edge performance requirements while maintaining producibility in circuit board design.
In this role you will draw upon your background in mixed signal circuit design to aid in the development and sustainment of our ground-breaking products. You will have the opportunity to build your skills as you collaborate within a diverse team of engineers and disciplines.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for Design of analog, digital, and mixed signal circuits for state-of-the-art commercial radars
- Develop and execute trade studies to refine circuit designs required to support new and emerging radar designs
- Collaborate with other members of the engineering team to ensure robust in-system performance
- Apply Design for X principles to ensure objectives are met across key metrics, such as Quality, Reliability, Test, Assembly, and Sourcing
- Responsible for Verification and Validation of electrical designs
- Develop test plans to validate your design meets critical functional and performance requirements
- Work in an advanced electronics lab to bring-up first-of-kind printed circuit assemblies to tune, troubleshoot, and validate them
- Execute test plans, analyze data, troubleshoot issues, and report results
- Continue to grow subject matter expertise through individual growth and mentoring, utilizing both internal and external resources
- Develop your analytical skills and techniques as you apply them in your designs
- Work with your leadership team to understand upcoming projects and programs and identify opportunities for growth in your knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Become an integral part of the team through collaboration and mentoring
Required skills / experience:
- Background in analog and mixed signal circuit theory and circuit development
- Experienced in the use of schematic capture tools to design circuits that include digital and analog components
- Design and/or Test of electrical circuits, such as processors, FPGA, digital logic, high-speed interfaces, voltage regulation, power delivery, or any other mixed-signal circuits
- Understanding of parts selection and layout techniques for digital circuits and power supplies with the ability to trade off design constraints for efficiency, thermal, and signal integrity
- Ability to perform SPICE simulations for new and existing circuit designs
- Experience in testing newly printed circuit assembly designs in the lab
- Ability to develop and execute tests using logic capture/analysis and oscilloscopes
- Experience in troubleshooting circuits to the component level and developing proposed solutions
Desired skills / experience:
- Experience with Altium (or equivalent) for schematic capture and layout
- Understanding of low-speed signaling protocols such as SPI or I2C
- Scientific coding skills, including MATLAB or Python (or equivalent)
Qualifications:
- BS Degree in Engineering or Physics
- 2 or more years’ experience developing analog, digital, or mixed-signal circuits
Echodyne’s technology is export controlled by the U.S. Government and we must evaluate an applicant’s eligibility to handle export-controlled information or obtain required Government authorizations. Therefore, we will ask you as part of the application process to identify whether you are a U.S. Citizen or green card holder, or have asylum/refugee status in the U.S.
What We Offer:
- Incentive stock options
- Excellent health benefits
- Company-paid disability and life insurance
- Flexible time off – Generous paid time off, office closure days, and sick leave
- Lots of healthy snack options
- Locker rooms/showers
