Early Head Start Teacher 1
Position summary
Provide developmentally appropriate services to children age birth to three years in a pleasant, nurturing childcare environment.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities

- Establish trusting relationships with children and families.
- Provide direct care to enrolled children in order to maintain appropriate staff / child ratios.
- Together with other staff, plan and implement a program within a physical environment appropriate to meet the changing needs of infants and toddlers. Prepare lesson plans and materials to provide stimulating activities for the children.
- Provide evaluation and assessment to children and families, including developmental, family and social/medical assessments.
- Provide information to parents about their child’s daily activities, assisting them to recognize their child’s developmental and individual needs.
- Serve as client advocate, providing support and case management services to facilitate successful referral and linkage to community resources.
- Maintain familiarity with the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP); in cooperation with other staff plan, prepare and present nutritious meals and snacks to enrolled children.
- Assist with light housekeeping and sanitizing of facility to maintain a safe, clean, infection-free environment.
- Assist families in understanding and taking responsibility for the physical and mental health and nutritional needs of their children and themselves, as well as the need for maintaining a safe stimulating home environment. Establish and maintain accurate and complete records of client interactions, referrals and interventions utilized. Maintain quality assurance standards related to these records.
- Maintain service at assigned level and participate in reaching program goals and objectives.
- Participate in staff meetings, staff development activities and center committees as assigned.
- Maintain a high level of ethical conduct regarding confidentiality.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Early Childhood Education or Associate degree in early childhood education with 3 years’ experience working with Infants / Toddlers or a related Bachelor degree with 15 hours in courses with documented content relating to the needs, skills, development, or teaching methods of children under 6. Knowledge and skills in areas of child growth and development, parent education, interpersonal skills and written and oral communication.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Completion of American Red Cross CPR/First Aid certification.
- Re-certification of American Red Cross CPR/First Aid as required.
