About the role
The primary objective of the EHS Manager role is to protect and enhance the safety of our employees and our site sustainability through prevention, fostering a culture of caring where safety and health are ingrained as a core value, achieving world class performance in support of a highly efficient, low cost operations via a zero accident mindset. The position ensures compliance of all H&S aspects of the site and sets local EHS strategies for overall success in alignment with corporate policy and common practices.
Responsibilities:
- Work and collaborate with the Operations Leadership Team to develop EHS Key Priorities, Drivers and Activities with Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to enhance site EHS performance and ensure alignment with corporate strategies and programs.
- Develops H&S programs, systems, and processes, including training and coaching to establish clear procedures on EHS measures and precautions.
- Partners with each site leadership to drive the implementation of the processes and programs, ensuring each site maintains a continuous "audit ready" state of compliance with company EHS policies and procedures as well as all applicable external regulatory requirements.
- Ensures investigation of all EHS related incidents to developing processes and tools to drive to root cause and identify actions to prevent and eliminate recurrence.
- Develops site talents to be effective EHS leaders/coaches in their respective positions via hands on leadership, coaching, and teamwork.
- Leads development of EHS capabilities of all employees and contractors through effective content development and delivery of site EHS training that ensures comprehensions.
- Ensure safety record-keeping and data integrity and provides Operations with accurate reporting and metrics to support business safety programs.
- Provides technical expertise/coaching as needed in all areas and initiatives of the function.
- Assess and implement cost-effective programs to manage EHS-related risks, with long-term objectives and goals to reduce, mitigate, eliminate risks and hazards.
- Serve as a key corporate contact for functions and operations in all EHS related matters.
- Provide comprehensive safety guidance for processes and procedures.
- Capable to influence and lead EHS initiatives and act as an enabler to provide exciting and effective solutions to ultimately enhance all levels of employee safety.
- Conducts routine site visits and safety audits. Expect 30% travelling in the US.
Qualifications
- Strong experience and knowledge of related governing agency requirements (i.e., OSHA, NFPA, EPA, DOT, and Workers Compensation).
- Strong leadership, training, problem solving, and decision-making skills
- Demonstrated organizational, communication, research and analytical skills
- Experience and/or familiarity with OSHA and EPA regulations
- Experience with 5S information and principles
- Experience with Microsoft Office and DC specific software systems
Bonus Points
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental or Occupational Health Sciences with experience in the environmental, health, & safety field with a preference in food and beverage
- Experience managing a Process Safety Management Program
- Knowledge of environmental regulations including but not limited to: air, wastewater, storm water, solid and hazardous waste regulations, RMP
- Effectively manage people, programs, projects and consultants
- Experience in a DC or food related industry preferred
Compensation Range
- The US base salary range for this full-time position is $107,000-$140,000
- This role may be eligible to discretionary bonus, incentives and benefits
- Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location
