Scope of the Position
Under the guidance of the Corporate Health and Safety Manager, the Medical Management Coordinator is responsible for implementing Care Management programs for US and Canadian workers of Chemtrade. This position manages Worker’s Compensation portfolios used by Chemtrade and is responsible for managing compensation claims including the early and safe return to work process. The position will also coordinate the corporate Drug and Alcohol testing program. This role is an individual contributor role that provides guidance and liaises with various Human Resources staff to help manage the overall Employee Wellness program at Chemtrade.
What You Need To Be Successful
- University degree in a field related to Human Resources Management
- Experience / knowledge in Worker’s Compensation programs
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform in-depth data modeling in a compressed amount of time. Proficiency with Excel required.
- Ability to recognize trends as well as recommend solutions and provide supporting data
- Attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Key Responsibilities

- As part of overall Employee Wellness, coordinate the company’s Care Management strategy including, Worker’s Compensation, Drug and Alcohol Testing, and Pandemic illness reporting.
- Responsible for the administration of Worker’s Compensation claims, including coordination of early and safe return to work.
- Work proactively with Worker’s Compensation vendors (Liberty Mutual, Archbright, WorksafBC, WSIB, Worksafe Alberta, etc.) to ensure all documentation is in order and processed in a timely fashion. Work with managers and employees to ensure early and safe return to work from occupation injury.
- Act as the primary Chemtrade contact for Worker’s Compensation organizations.
- Ensure all filing of Worker’s Compensation documentation is completed in a timely fashion.
- Monitor and analyze utilization of all Worker’s Compensation plans. Track and analyze costs and key metrics in order to identify trends and recommend improvements
- Assist in the Investigation of workplace illness in support of determining if the illness is work related and reportable to OSHA.
- Provide continuing support to site personnel, insurance carriers, and EHS with policies and procedures related to Pandemic planning and response.
- Act as a Designated Employer Representative (DER) to confidentially manage reports that contain medical information related to Drug and Alcohol testing
- Liaise with the company third party medical provider to ensure that the medical management program is maintained and followed across Chemtrade.
- Develop an employee communication and training strategy to provide information, awareness, and understanding of Care Management programs.
- Identify opportunities to leverage technology and re-engineer business processes to increase operational efficiencies and effectiveness
- Work collaboratively with Human Resources on Employee Wellness initiatives including:
o Liaising with the Wellness and Benefits consultant to resolve employee injury / disability cases and safely return employees to work
o Liaising with Human resources staff to provide assistance for employee wellness.
o Liaising with Payroll staff to ensure accurate information is gathered and submitted to Care Management claims - Special projects as required.
Reports To: Corporate Health & Safety Manager
Location: Home Based poisiton across Canada or the US.
