ABOUT THIS ROLE:
In this role the selected candidate will be a recognized subject matter expert with in-depth understanding of the professional field, who knows how to apply theory and put it into practice with limited oversight from management. They will have functional knowledge of Title I and Title II of the ADA, Title VI, and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA), Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and other related state and federal regulations and court precedents and/or administrative decisions related to discrimination and employment law.
Typical tasks include:
- Independently performing the full range of responsibilities within the function; requiring deep job knowledge of EEO investigative techniques and procedures typically obtained through higher education combined with experience.
- Managing large projects or processes, analyzing problems and issues of diverse scope that may be difficult and often complex, and determining solutions.
- Possibly managing programs that include formulating strategies and administering policies, processes, and resources, functioning with a high degree of autonomy.
- Influencing others regarding policies, practices, and procedures.
- Handle negotiations with tact, resourcefulness, and sound judgment.
- Analyze and interpret data, policies, regulations, procedures and legal precedents.
- Analyze evidence; prepare and maintain accurate and concise records and reports.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, management, and various agencies at all levels of the organization, complainants, respondents, citizens, business community and the general public.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Coach/advise employees and managers through sensitive Equal Employment Opportunity issues to resolve conflict and seek workable solutions.
- Conduct individual and/or group facilitations to foster effective communication and healthy workplace relationships among employees and management.
- Investigate work-related or compliance issues and prepare summary reports, conclusions, and recommendations.
- Use reason and de-escalation skills to manage difficult or emotional situations.
- Present facts and recommendations verbally and in writing.
- Plan, design, implement, and conduct training to a diverse level of management, and employees.
- Maintain strict confidentiality.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or G.E.D. and 5 years of related (investigating Equal Employment Opportunity complaints in a large organization) experience.
PREFERENCES:
A Bachelor’s degree with major course work in Human Resource, Business or Public Administration, or a related field, and 5 years of related work experience. The ideal candidate with have thorough knowledge of investigative techniques and procedures; comprehensive expertise in methods and techniques of fact-finding, analysis and resolution of complex problems; general knowledge of federal state and local civil rights laws, statutes, ordinances and regulations pertaining to human rights issues. They will have demonstrated successful experience resolving conflict amongst staff and managers. They will have demonstrated ability to make sound, professional decisions consistent with Federal, State, and local civil rights laws, statutes, ordinances, regulations, policies, and procedures in an environment with a formalized Equal Employment Opportunity/discipline/grievance process. They will have confidence in public speaking.
SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS:
Monday - Friday for 37.50/hrs./wk.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The selected candidate’s offer is contingent upon the successful completion of a background investigation, which includes Criminal History Check, I-9, and E-Verify requirements.
ENTRY SALARY RANGE:
$62,613.00 - $92,293.00
