Department:Transitional Foster Care Program for Unaccompanied Children (UC)

Title:Education Manager

Reports to:Assistant Program Manager

Summary:
The Education Manager oversees the educational programming for all UC in the Transitional Foster Care Program. This includes managing curriculum development for all students (Pre-K to K-12) and overseeing staff implementation of the curriculum. In addition, the Education Manager will be responsible for developing and overseeing implementation of all recreational and enrichment activities, and support services for UC while they are in school. The Education Manager will be responsible for ensuring that curriculum, activities, services are in compliance with The Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) policies and procedures regarding the education of UC while in transitional foster care.

Essential Functions of Foster Parent Trainer/Foster Parent Support Worker:

  • Develop curriculum for UC in the Transitional Foster Care Program and oversee the implementation of that curriculum (Pre-K to K-12).
  • Oversee the implementation of recreational activities and enrichment activities for UC while they are in school.
  • Develop and oversee support services for UC while they are in school.
  • Help prepare educational budget.
  • Evaluating teacher performance.
  • Prepare teaching schedules.

Supervisory Responsibility:The Education Manager oversees all teachers and support staff.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in education or related field.
  • Managerial or supervisory experience in an educational setting.
  • Experience with curriculum development.
  • Bilingual

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Experience working with immigrant or refugee population.
