Job Overview:
Shriners Children's is the premier pediatric burn, orthopedic, spinal cord injury, cleft lip nd palate, and pediatric subspecialties medical center. We have an opportunity for a Donor Development Assistant to join our team.
Responsibilities:
Sharing in the mission of Shriners Children’s the Donor Development Assistant is responsible for administrative operations of the development department, gift processing, donor acknowledgment, and donor database management. Understanding the importance of prospect research and relationship building, as it is related to the development process, is key to being successful in this position. This position reports to the Director of Development.

  • Development Office Administration 40%

    • Provides support to the Director of Development in the fulfillment of departmental duties, including:

    generation of annual tactical plans and monthly status updates; budget preparation; expense reporting; travel

    and meeting coordination; calendar management and file maintenance.

    • Draft donor correspondence, develop reports and presentations, and coordinate the content collection and

    approvals process for the creation of newsletters, publications, digital platforms such as but not limited to Classy and MyEmma, social media posts and printed fundraising collateral with support from Marketing and Communications/PR team.

    • Assist Development team with large mailings, preparation of donor packets, tracking of donor recognitions

    and meeting coordination and file maintenance.

    • Document standard procedures and guidelines as required for donations processing and other development

    office procedures to ensure consistency and succession planning.

    • Prepare acknowledgment letters for all donations, tribute gifts, pledges, letters of intent, and donor stewardship/recognition. Provide supporting information to Development Officers, Board of Governors and Administrator for personalized acknowledgement and donation-related correspondence.
    • Primary contact for in-kind gifts, in coordination with Child Life
    • Proactively clean and update donor information in Blackbaud CRM
    • Generates weekly, monthly, and quarterly queries and reports for various stakeholders.
    • Enters data for all individual and institutional donations and other transaction-related correspondence.


    Prospecting & Cultivation 30%

    • Assist development team members and volunteer solicitors with individual donor prospect identification,

    research, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship. This includes developing stewardship relationships with

    select donors and volunteers.

    • Help build relationships with donors, colleagues, and Shriners by engaging and cultivating and renewing donors $500 - $999.
    • Track and follow-up on all employer matching gift requests. Implement strategies to expand employer match

    opportunities.

    • Assist development in maintaining cooperative relationships with affiliated Shrine Temples, Shrine Clubs, and local community support groups (3rd Party Events) for philanthropic support.
    • Research new donation channels or tools to expand giving opportunities. Work with team to properly

    implement new campaigns, appeals and opportunities.

    • Create and maintain confidential donor prospect records in hard copy and electronic formats.

    Events 15%

    • Supports the Development Director in the planning and execution of major donor cultivation meetings, luncheons, and events including: creating and managing event budgets; planning timelines; coordinating venues, catering, equipment and speakers; track all event data using CRM, including invitation lists, RSVPs, payments, donations, and annotations in individual donor records; serve as main “day of” logistics orchestrator and troubleshooter; facilitate post-event follow-up activities; and conduct post-event appraisals to determine

    success.

    • Support Development Committee and various other departmental meetings, including: date and location

    scheduling; communication; attendance tracking; agenda; meeting material and presentation preparation;

    logistics coordination; meeting minutes recording and distribution; and follow-up activities.

    • Assist development team with 3rd party events including event promotions, check presentations, conducting and assisting with hospital tours, etc.


    Builds collaborative relationships with leadership, medical staff, peers, and hospital staff. 5 %

    Actively supports all department and hospital policies. 5 %

    Actively supports patient safety initiatives. Responds and acts on safety recommendations. 5 %

Qualifications:
Training and Experience:
  • Minimum two years administrative experience required.
  • Nonprofit development experience preferred.
  • Experience with Blackbaud CRM, Raiser’s Edge or other database system preferred.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • Skilled in basic desktop publishing using Adobe Photoshop, InDesign or similar software.
  • Experience working with donors and volunteers preferred.

Skills and Knowledge:
  • Exceptional organizational skills with impeccable attention to detail required.
  • Ability to work independently and edit own work.
  • Ability to establish and monitor priorities; maintains flexibility and meets deadlines.
  • Ability to multi-task and to work successfully in a fast-paced environment with minimum supervision.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills

Required Education:
  • AA degree preferred or comparable experience.
Compensation:
Range: $25-$38
This position is full-time, exempt and benefits eligible.
Compensation is determined based on experience and department equity.
