POSITION TITLE: Dish Steward

Duties/Tasks:

• Be in proper uniform when on duty
• Hours vary based on hotel business
• Load and unload a dish-washing machine in a timely manner. Certain pots, pans, utensils and silverware must be loaded correctly, which helps the machine operate efficiently and effectively. The temperature has to be at the correct setting and the correct amount of dish-washing liquid should be used. Periodically, a dish-washing machine will break down and the dish steward may be required to fix a jammed part. Machines also have to be assembled and reassembled before and after use.
• Take out the trash and make sure the trash is secure inside of dumpsters.
• Garbage cans should be supplied with new garbage bags daily, and/or as needed.
• Sweep floors, mop and make sure the dish-washing area is neat, organized and clean.
• All food areas are wiped down and sanitized daily.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent work experience.
• Must work well with or without direct supervision.
• Needs to be flexible, self- motivated, positive and have a professional attitude towards guests, co-worker and management.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 Ibs.
• 90% walking, lifting and bending. 10% standing.
• Scheduled days and times may vary based on business need.
