Purpose and Scope:

To support St. Rose Philippine Duchesne’s mission to always be a welcoming and joyful community committed to making disciples by igniting and strengthening faith in Christ and the celebration of Gods’ grace. To work closely with the Pastor, staff members, ministry coordinators and volunteers to ensure successful planning, development and implementation of all Discipleship and Stewardship efforts.

Position Overview:

The Discipleship Coordinator will be responsible to develop and execute the necessary processes to ensure the Parish is able to provide funding to support ongoing operational expenses and costs associated with campus development. To this end this person will need to establish discipleship as a “way of life” of all parishioners and establish St. Rose campus and its ministries as a central part of its parishioner’s lives. The programs that are created will fit within the parish’s four seasons of Stewardship: Giving, Praying, Serving and Forming.


Essential Job Functions:

Oversee and further develop the Discipleship / Stewardship plan for the parish.

  • Recruit and train volunteers who would be responsible to coordinate the activities of Stewardship functions and/or the ministries within.
  • Develop and implement programs or events that support and inculcate the understanding of the parish’s four seasons of Stewardship: Giving, Praying, Serving and Forming.

Oversee the Small Christian Community (SCC) program to ensure its on-going development.

Establish policies and procedures for all Stewardship of Giving activities.

  • Become familiar with the Diocese Stewardship plan.
  • Investigate plans developed by other parishes and maintain an ongoing awareness of fundraising programs employed by other Christian churches that appear to be successful.
  • Educate the community on proper discipleship practices.
  • Develop creative programs to highlight and enhance discipleship participation.
  • Develop a plan to attract large donors to support Parish financial needs to include estate planning.
  • Structure a team of people with financial expertise who can educate parishioners on financial planning.
  • Structure and execute an annual giving campaign.

Maintain a complete working understanding of the principle tenants of evangelization, discipleship, mission and stewardship in order to properly implement the five-year Pastoral Plan. Interact and collaborate with staff members ensuring that these themes are integrated into appeals, campaigns and programs or events.

Manage appeals as assigned; develop business and marketing plans, goals, timelines, communications and marketing materials.

Work closely with the Pastoral Council President and Finance Council President to ensure a spirit of cooperation among the key operating divisions of the Parish exists. Always keeping in mind that the overall success of the Parish takes precedent over the specific interests of one of the divisions.

Demonstrate a keen fiduciary responsibility in the development of an annual budget to support the financial needs of the discipleship effort.

Ability to meet deadlines and organize large projects.

Attend staff meeting, staff retreats and ministry events as required.

Assist in administrative and pastoral duties as requested by the Pastor

Respond to other directives and suggestions of the Pastor

Requirements:


Qualifications:

  • Possess a four-year college degree preferably in Business Administration.
  • Experience in developing and managing fund-raising campaigns would be an asset.
  • Strong financial acumen (e.g.: financial planning).
  • Solid organizational and time management skills.
  • Articulate and possess good presentation skills.
  • Ability to motivate people to action.
  • Have a high level of computer literacy. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and data base management (e.g. Shelby). Have a solid understanding of the value and use of social media would be an asset.
  • Possess a solid work ethic, a high degree of credibility, integrity and self-confidence.
  • Is an active practicing Roman Catholic who is and will continue to be in full communion with the Church.
