Director – RSC HR & Team Member Engagement

This role will be responsible for providing human resource services leadership, guidance, and coordination to the corporate Team Member population of approximately 220 Team Members (TMs) who work both in Denver and remote. In addition, this individual will be responsible for leading the national Team Member engagement function for the company supporting a population of over 25,000 Team Members. This position will be based at our Denver headquarters and will require 3 – 5 days/week of on-site presence.

Essential Functions of the Job:

  • Leads and supports the team of HR & TM Engagement Advisors

    • Lead a team of TM engagement professionals operating as an internal case management team. This team will focus on investigating TM concerns, overseeing grievances, responding to employment claims (e.g., unemployment, wage & hour, DFEH, EEOC, etc.,) TM terminations and facilitate positive work climate initiatives

    • Works with the manager of Team Member Engagement to ensure investigations of TM misconduct, policy infractions, and internal complaints are completed in a timely and thorough manner

    • Supervises direct reports. Develops staffing plans; recruits and hires to staff the RSC organization. Establishes individual performance goals and reviews performance against goals. Provides counseling. Plans, approves, and implements programs for the timely development and progression of the individuals. Handles discipline and documentation steps as appropriate

  • Drives the development, execution, and success of Red Robin’s TM Engagement Strategy & Tactics

    • Contributes to the creation or and responsible for the deployment, execution, and impact of engagement initiatives are in place for all RSC and field operations

    • Provide management and supervisory skills coaching expertise to the RSC team. Assist managers with understanding how to manage performance and lead effectively. Provide constructive solutions on how to enhance employee performance and engagement. Lead the development of local action plans in response to survey feedback

    • Develop a comprehensive strategy to enhance TM engagement through the improvement of climate and culture. Include field Human Resource Business Partners (HRBPs) in the development and execution of that strategy. Provide regular updates to the Executive Leadership Team on our progress against desired outcomes. Assist with the development of progressive employee and labor relations approaches to enhance the “Team Member Experience.” Establish meaningful metrics to track the effectiveness of all interventions

    • Lead the administration of the RRGB Team Member Survey platform and work with local management teams and HR artners to design effective response programs to employee feedback. Effectively handoff the implementation of survey response initiatives to HRBPs

  • Supports the Restaurant Support Center (RSC) TMs as the HR Business Partner

    • Guides and coordinates daily HR operations for the RSC Team Member population

    • Responsible for ensuring staffing targets are met for all Restaurant Support Center departments

    • Responsible for ensuring effective training & development plans are in place for RSC Team Members. Supports current and future platforms for the identification, development, and advancement of top talent

    • Responsible for ensuring compensation programs are administered effectively across the Restaurant Support Center

  • Provide recommendations to all levels of the business

    • Provides consultative services to executive team and other RSC leaders on organizational performance, TM relations, policies/practices, compensation, and other HR related activities

    • Provides perspectives and input regarding employment practices and company-wide employee policies

    • Leads and supports organizational change by seeking and developing approaches for the organization to be more effective

    • Provide effective policy and practice guidance to HR leaders for re-organizations.

  • Partners with internal & external stakeholders to support HR platforms, resolve issues, analyze data, & report out on key HR metrics

    • Works with inside and outside legal counsel to effectively advise the business, investigate, and resolve claims

    • Manages key vendor relationships that support case management and compliance activities

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • 10 – 15 years progressive experience in Human Resources including the management of other HR professionals.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related discipline preferred. Equivalent combination of experience, education, and certifications considered

  • Strong business acumen

  • Demonstrated leadership skills with ability to lead a team with a stakeholder service orientation

  • Able to develop & leverage HR metrics and KPIs to drive improvement

  • Demonstrated skills in project management & implementation, process improvement, providing consultative guidance

  • Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal skills with the ability to present information in a compelling manner

  • Experienced manager of HR activities across multiple locations and wide geography

  • Ability to function as an internal coach to management, peers, and others by helping them identify and resolve issues, encouraging excellent management practices, anticipating internal organization issues, proposing solutions, and understanding/representing the Team Member perspective

  • Strong orientation to building work environment that drives Team Member engagement and a positive work climate.

  • Comprehensive subject matter expertise in the areas of Employee Relations, Labor Relations, Employment Law (State and Federal).

  • Demonstrated strategic planning acumen

  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint). Experience with Workday and Power BI a plus.

Compensation Range: $136,800.00 - $188,100.00
