Position Summary:
Design and implement scaled system and tools to automate and optimize vehicle placement and allocation decisions for AutoNation vehicle portfolio across our store network.
We are looking for an experienced analytics and technology leader to design and implement advanced store level demand forecasting, assortment optimization and inventory allocation solution that will integrate with vehicle Placement and retailing processes. You will the product owner of the vehicle placement optimization solution and will work collaboratively with various internal and external stakeholders to bring this solution to market. You will play a key role in building organization wide Placement data model and third-party data integration. You will work closely with the pricing science and other teams to leverage models that will be included in scaled systems to automate existing processes and to maximize business objectives.
The role is part of the pricing strategy team reporting to the Vice President of Pricing Strategy.
Position Responsibilities:
The key responsibilities for this role are
- Document the current vehicle placement processes, policies, systems, data interdependencies and user ecosystems.
- Understand the business requirements from a people, process, governance, and technology perspective to effectively design advanced vehicle Placement optimization solutions that address customer needs while maintaining our control environment.
- Work alongside technology and business teams to Implement advanced Placement technology solution and manage integration with vehicle appraisal and retailing systems.
- Work with stakeholders across the vehicle appraisal and Placement functions to refine the policies, and processes, to automate work and creating efficiencies leveraging advanced Placement technology solution
- Play a key role in establishment of the vehicle Placement data model leveraging third-party data integration.
- Manage performance target and improvement metrics across the end-to-end process.
- Support identification and prioritization of continuous improvements and process roadmaps. Drive simplification, optimization, and standardize all processes in this space.
- Develop strong business partnerships with sales, sales operations, legal, systems and other teams to ensure compliance with Placement policies, answer questions and be an enabler to business growth.
Required Qualifications:
Experience:- 10+ years of hands-on experience working as an automotive leader focused on used car operations and the pre-owned vehicle journey; with expert knowledge of: vehicle appraisal, acquisition, reconditioning services, inventory management, pre-owned pricing strategy, online used car marketing, in-person merchandising, and pre-owned vehicle sales.
- 5+ years working in a Regional Used Car leadership role managing controllable expense elements and team operations on behalf of a Dealership Group including experience setting up, implementing, and monitoring standardized processes for used vehicle acquisition, distribution, and pricing.
- Deep knowledge of automotive industry vehicle acquisition, retail processes at the dealership, and the spectrum of technology solutions available.
- Proven track record of improving Dealer Group/Dealer profitability based on the inventory management processes implemented.
- Expert level understanding of tools and data sources for vehicle acquisition strategy, marketing, placement, and retail pricing decisions (vAuto, VinSolutions, Inventory Plus etc.).
Education:- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
General Skills:- Strong functional automotive background, with sound analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to translate and bridge gaps between technical and financial
- Comfort dealing with ambiguity with the ability to examine problems through cross-functional lenses.
- Ability to work backwards through the customer journey, from their perspective, solving problems that could delay or cause frustration as they look to do business with AutoNation
- Excellent verbal and written communicationskills working with both Corporate and Region leaders
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in consulting with senior automotive executives and/or leading dealership transformation projects with leading Automotive Retailers is a strong plus.
- Experience working as a solution expert for Automotive inventory technology solutions management and pricing is a strong plus.
