Position Overview
The Director, Operations is an innovative thought leader who has a strong technical and business acumen coupled with a project management skill set and the ability to serve as a key contributor on enterprise-wide initiatives. The Director, Operations will work cross-functionally within a high demand, performance driven environment that focuses on implementing scalable solutions that are aligned with the company’s overall business strategy.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops and leverages relationships with internal and external stakeholders to meet strategic business objectives
- Collaborates with leaders to design enterprise wide and/or cross-functional solutions to address business problems
- Leads large scale initiatives and oversees change management related to the implementation of new technology or processes
- Understand and foster cross-program and cross-functional dependencies to champion execution success and maximized value capture
- Establish best practices and ensure solution delivery adheres to defined standards
- Provides day-to day leadership and management consistent with Amherst’s core values, establishing long-term efficiencies, and attaining short and long-term goals
- Define and document scope, ensuring all relevant subject matter experts are engaged to produce competent and comprehensive requirements. Ensure strategic / business goals will be achieved
- Manage to business case or approved budget while controlling spend and value or earnings (driving ROI, minimizing one time and recurring costs)
- Develop regular and thorough status updates and presentations for senior leadership meetings and stakeholder communications
- Anticipate and mitigate risks, dependencies, and impediments; facilitate resolutions
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution
- Minimum 10+ years’ experience in real estate, finance, or technology required
- Agile, Six Sigma, or PMP certification strongly perferred
Skills/Specialized Knowledge
- Proven judgment and ability to manage portfolios of work
- Solid understanding of project management and agile principles, with the ability to teach and coach others
- Keen ability to engage and lead delivery teams
- Strong interpersonal, conflict management and communication skills
- Effective documentation and reporting skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Prefer experience with Smartsheet, Asana, Jira, and Confluence
Required Licenses or Certifications
- Project Management Professional (PMP) / PRINCE II certification is a plus
- Agile training and certifications (CSM, CPO, etc.) are a plus
