This open position is within one of BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina’s subsidiary companies called ISU with headquarters in Jacksonville, Florida.

Position Purpose:

In the role as Director of Underwriting, the ideal candidate would efficiently direct all activies associated with underwriting and policy processing for the company. This position also has a responsibility for the strategic and tactical management of the underwriting staff, as well as maximizing premium production while minimizing financial risk, and underwriting of new and renewal contracts.

Logistics:

This is a full-time position working (40-hours/week) Monday-Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm EST working on-site if you are within 30 miles of 10199 Southside Blvd. Suite 205 Jacksonville, FL 32256 further than 30 miles, this position will be remote within the United States.

What You’ll Do:

• Oversees the day-to-day underwriting activities including risk selection, determination of proper coverage, policy issuance, rating and pricing, maintenance of satisfactory producer and policyholder service, and all policy processing.
• Develops and maintains underwriting rules and regulations to ensure compliance with all currently applicable corporate, state, and federal legislation. Monitors compliance of and communicates changes in underwriting rules and regulations.
• Work closely with other functional areas, including finance, loss control, claims, and premium audit, to achieve overall company goals.
• Develop agency relationship management strategies to foster long-term relationships that are consistently growing.
• Explores new opportunities to streamline and accelerate current policies and procedures.

To Qualify for This Position, You’ll Need:

• 10+ Years Underwriting. 2 years in management OR equivalent military experience in grade E4 or above.
• Bachelor's degree or 4 years job related work experience or 4 years combined education and job-related experience.
• Extensive knowledge of underwriting policies and procedures.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills knowledge of basic actuarial principles.
• Demonstrates efficient supervisory/motivational ability.
• Knowledge of automated insurance systems and Microsoft Office.

Pay: $40,779.87 - $119,159.27 per year
