Director of Operations

Dayton T. Brown is a Leader in Engineering & Test | Logistics | Technical Publications | Military Missions Systems. We have a perfect opportunity for a Director of Operations to join our amazing talented team in our Engineering and Test Division. This position will be on-site located in our Bohemia, NY location.

This position will be responsible for management and oversight of all Engineering and Test departments, reporting directly to the Division Vice President & General Manager. This includes but is not limited to the oversight of all project and resource management, to ensure compliance with budget, scope, and schedule requirements of each program and customer. You will also be responsible for the following:

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage the operations of the test departments within the Engineering and Test division - EMI/EMC and Rail, Structural Test and Engineering Services, and Environmental and Dynamics.
• Ensure that all programs are meeting the quality, schedule, and budget requirements.
• Responsible for the profitability of the three departments. Each department is run by a manager who would report to the Director of Operations. Ensure that you and your managers are on top of all programs within the lab.
• Maintain and improve customer satisfaction.
• Drive change by establishing new processes, restructuring old processes, evaluating operational structural, utilizing new software for management of tasks, as well as any other way you may see fit.
• Support the sales team and quoting process. Ensure operations is providing sales with adequate support to get quotes and proposals out on time.
• Evaluate existing test facilities and equipment. Look for opportunities to replace equipment with improved solutions. Create plans to replace equipment before it is beyond its useful life.
• Support daily and monthly financial reporting. Support annual business planning.
• Mentor your direct reports and other personnel to further develop their technical, business, and leadership skills.

Qualifications necessary:

• 4yr. College degree and 10+ Years' experience working in a test lab environmental. Comparable experience within a manufacturing, aerospace, or other complex facility would be considered.
• Must have experience managing large teams of people including direct reports.
• Must have experience managing large technical programs.
• Possess experience with budgeting, risk mitigation, quality, process planning, and financial performance monitoring.
• Must possess strong interpersonal, organizational, attention to detail, and multi-tasking skills.
• Must possess excellent communication skills.
• Must have strong computer skills, be proficient in all Microsoft Office applications
• Must be a team player, willing to work overtime to meet demands
• US Citizenship Required
• Some travel required
