Position Overview
The Director of Operations and Human Resources is responsible for all operational and human resource functions across Green Apple School Management’s small and expanding network of high-achieving charter schools. The Director of Operations and Human Resources ensures that all school and corporate operations are performed with excellence so that students and the company can flourish. The Director of Operations and Human Resources works collaboratively with the CEO and members of the Green Apple Leadership Team to execute all operational and human resource functions seamlessly. Minimum Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in human resources, business, organizational management, education, or related field; Master's degree preferred
· Minimum five years of operational leadership experience, ideally with success overseeing many operational and HR functions, including recruitment and retention of faculty and staff and operations experience; experience within a school or district-based setting preferred
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with leaders, managers, and all stakeholders within the organization
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Reporting to the CEO, the Director of Operations and Human Resources is a central member of the Green Apple Leadership Team, responsible for key operational and human resource functions that support Green Apple’s mission for its schools.
Operations:
· Drive excellence across all operational functions including school and system operations , student recruitment and enrollment, meals, transportation, procurement, student information systems, buildings and maintenance, construction, technology, compliance and reporting, safety, , school expansion, and new school openings
· Provide leadership and support to the company to ensure all requirements are met to maintain COGNIA system accreditation status
· Develop the business sections of the Green Apple Strategic Plan, implement strategies and activities with fidelity, track progress of the plan, and monitor and measure the effectiveness of all strategies and activities in achieving the goals
· Demonstrate and model a high level of professional integrity and promote the valuesof the organization, including strong hospitality and customer service orientation
· Supervise and develop the Green Apple Business Team through a system of collaboration, support, and accountability; lead weekly business meetings
· Direct, supervise and evaluate the performance of each business managerreporting directly to him/her; and hold them accountable for productivity and timeliness in the achievement of the company’s goals and expected results
· Establish and and maintain clear lines of verbal and written communication; disseminate information within the department in a timely manner; and promote collegiality between departmental staff and school employees
· Demonstrate proactivity in clearly defining problems, despite ambiguity, and provide sound recommendations for solving difficult and high-stakes problems, based on extensive research and utilization of professional resources
· Develop strategies for creative marketing for the schools and Green Apple School Management that include website development, online or in-person presentations, special events, school tours, webinars, and a variety of communication methods that include printed materials, email, and social media platforms
· Inform CEO of critical issues and incidents related to operations in a timely manner
· Execute the network's expansion strategy, in partnership with Green Apple’s leadership team, that includes the growth and expansion of existing school sites, as well as the seamless launch of new school sites
· Perform other operational duties and responsibilities as assigned by CEO
Human Resources:
· Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of human resource management, including federal and state employment law, recruitment and retention, HR reporting, teacher certification, DOE compliance, and personnel performance appraisal and accountability systems
- Create the vision for and lead the development and execution of a comprehensive human resource strategy to support the achievement of Green Apple strategic goals and advance its mission
- Create and execute a comprehensive plan for the identification, recruitment, engagement, development, and retention of talented and high-performing school and company staff
- Develop and implement human resource procedures that include organizing and serving on interview teams, executing pre-employment procedures (screening and vetting of candidates); hiring qualified candidates, and onboarding new employees following established programs and procedures
- Develop and manage the effective implementation of the company’s 401k plan and all other benefits available to Green Apple and school employees
- Set the tone to provide a welcoming, supportive, engaging, and high-performing workplace with a culture of trust, collegiality, and respect throughout the organization.
- Ensure compliance with all ethical and regulatory standards
- Perform other human resource duties and responsibilities as assigned by CEO
