Our agency is CHAP accredited and has some of the best clinicians in the industry. Sun Tree is in need of a Director of Clinical Services who has strong people skills, loves working and developing a team, and has deep experience and understanding of a hospice program and its Medicare Conditions of Participation.

Director of Clinical Services
- Supervision:
Direct Supervisor: Administrator
Classification: Exempt Occupational Exposure Risk Category: Class I
- Summary of Position:
Directs the clinical activities and patient care programs of the agency. Collaborates with administrator to plan and implement policies and procedures and evaluate their effectiveness. Serves in consultative role to clinical staff to implement industry standards of practice. Supervises the activities of the interdisciplinary staff. Acts in the absence of the administrator and accepts delegation of authority in the administrator’s absence in writing.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school of nursing or associate degree with 3 years of hospice experience
- Must be licensed to practice in the state where the office and patients served is located.
- Experienced and knowledgeable regarding state practice acts.
- Experienced and knowledgeable regarding Medicare/Medicaid conditions of participation and accrediting agency standards.
- Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to participate in patient care which may require excessive physical abilities including; bending, twisting, pulling, kneeling, squatting, reaching, transferring or lifting 50 lbs.
- Must be able to tolerate a large amount of travel and work in temperature changes related to weather and patient care environments.
- Must be able to communicate effectively to provide patient care and fill out necessary documentation.
Responsibilities:
- Participates with recommendations for development and revision of policies and procedures.
- Assists marketing staff in company growth activities and building relationships in the community.
- Participates in planning and attending vendor fairs to market company programs
- Develops and ensures implementation of standards to provide safe, quality care to patients and families.
- Collaborates with administrator to develop staffing ratios and hire and train quality interdisciplinary staff.
- Ensures thorough orientation of new employees and orients existing employees when new policies and procedure are developed.
- Ensures all care provided follows state and federal laws, Medicare/Medicaid regulations, and accrediting agency standards of practice.
- Performs 90 day and annual evaluations of all clinical staff reporting directly the Director of Clinical Services and makes appropriate changes in hiring and terminating staff as necessary.
- Assures timely referral follow up and admission of patients and assigns a registered nurse case manager and other clinical staff members to patients.
- Consults with the attending and hospice physician(s) to plan and approve clinical plans of care.
- Supports other staff members in managing job related stressful events and determine needs for coping.
- Must be flexible to accommodate staffing and on-call needs and participate in direct patient care as required during and after regular office hours.
- Gains knowledge of administrator duties in order to act in the administrative role in the absence of the designated administrator.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $98,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
