Job Summary: Responsible for the overall management, operation, and supervision of the Sacred Heart Center’s Family Violence Services and Women's Shelter which is a critical program that primarily serves victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
The incumbent for this position will bring both social service and leadership experience to this role and will demonstrate excellent organizational skills along with sound judgment in the decision-making process. This position is a part of the administrative team for the organization. The Director will possess both excellent written and verbal communication skills. The incumbent will have a background in employee supervision, budget management, and program development/assessment.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for the overall administration, management, supervision, and operation of the Family Violence Services and Women's Shelter program, including ensuring compliance with all regulations, grant/contract requirements, and all program policies and procedures.
2. Oversee reports, reporting requirements, budget expenditures, and billings.
3. Assist with the development of the annual program budget including the development of capital expenditure purchases for the program.
4. Responsible for assessing the effectiveness of programs, services, and service delivery in relation to meeting overall program goals and developing and implementing new and/or enhanced programming and services; responsible for ongoing program development.
5. Responsible for supervision of all program staff and ensuring adequate staffing including staff skills, competency, and evaluations.
6. Ensure completion of orientation and training of new staff and volunteers.
7. Development of ongoing training for existing staff along with the development of the training schedule.
8. Communicate policy and information to program staff and ensure compliance with organizational and program policies and procedures.
9. Coordinate and facilitate regularly scheduled staff meetings and in-service training.
10. Develop outreach and public awareness activities in partnership with the company's Outreach Coordinator.
11. Must network and work closely with agencies for referrals and input on programming as well as maintain program involvement with various organizations, technical assistance providers, etc. in addressing violence against women.
12. Seek alternative funding sources, develop, and write grant applications.
13. Provides other services and work duties as needed to meet the needs of the Sacred Heart Center and its ability to carry out its mission.
Supervision:
A. Supervision Received:
This position is supervised by the Director of Programs.
B. Supervision Provided:
This position provides direct and indirect supervision for all staff at the Family Violence Services department.
Minimum Qualifications:
A. Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or a closely related discipline is required.
- Master’s Degree in Social Work or a closely related discipline is preferred.
- Three years of supervisory experience is required.
- Previous experience in program management is preferred
- Experience in budget development, staff development, program assessment, and program development.
- Experience in grant writing is preferred.
- Experience working in or with Tribal communities and Native American populations, preferably on a Reservation.
- Experience in Social Services is strongly preferred.
B. Skills & Abilities:
- Maintain confidentiality in the departments.
- Computer skills - must possess basic computer skills including use of Microsoft Word and Outlook with the ability to learn job-specific programs and software.
- Interpersonal skills - must be able to communicate effectively with administrative staff and departmental staff.
- Possess both excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Background in grant writing and reporting.
- The ability to regularly work 40 or more hours per week to ensure the successful management of staff and programs.
- The ability to relocate near the service area or commute to the Shelter regularly during all seasons of the year.
C. Additional Requirements:
- Possess a valid South Dakota Driver’s License.
- Be able to safely operate a motor vehicle.
- Successfully pass pre-employment Drug Screen.
- Successfully pass Criminal Background Check. The following may disqualify any applicant from consideration:
- Any felony conviction
- Any domestic violence violations, convictions, or restraints.
- Any violations, convictions, or restraints for actions made against children or vulnerable adults.
- Any false, untrue statements or material omissions in the application and related paperwork or during the selection process.
Physical Conditions:
A. Work Environment:
- Regularly works indoors in controlled temperature and noise levels.
B. Physical Requirements:
- The ability to remain alert to the surroundings and soundly make quick decisions to maintain safety of persons and equipment
- Repetitive use of hands and wrist
- Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift up to 40 pounds with assistance
