Director of Day Habilitation
Job description
The Director of Day Habilitation for Cardinal Cushing Centers is responsible for the daily and ongoing operation of a community-based day habilitation program focused on the implementation of a therapeutic, skill- building curriculum. He/She will participate as a member of the interdisciplinary team to coordinate program objectives and oversee all individual supports. The Director will be responsible to adhering to all MassHealth regulations and CARF standards, and will ensure ongoing compliance. He/She will be responsible for the training and supervision of staff, and assists with the hiring/disciplinary process. In addition, the Director will have the responsibility of ensuring consistent and standardized implementation of best practices across all day habilitation settings including direct oversight of Site Director (s).
General

· Promotes and adheres to the tenets of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
· Assures visibility and availability to individuals receiving supports, families, Masshealth representatives, other providers and community resources including companies, businesses and civic organizations
· Provides consultation to other staff of Cardinal Cushing Centers in areas of expertise
· Participates in and acts as liaison from Adult Services to community organizations related to the activities of the Department
· Regular attendance and promptly reporting to work at the beginning of the scheduled shift are essential functions of this position
Administrative
· Establish and implement standardized practices across all day habilitation settings
· Evaluate and pursue program enhancement and new development opportunities
· Participate in budget development and revenue management
· Prepare and submit materials for review by Human Rights Committee, participating as requested
Department
· Ensure that services are being provided to clients in accordance with established Day Habilitation Support Plans (DHSP).
· Oversight of staff managing the internal group activities and group transitions.
· Monitor scheduling of all DHSPs with DDS Service Coordinators/family members/advocates annually, and completion of required assessments by designated staff.
· Coordination of intake/discharge procedures to ensure smooth transition of individuals to appropriate services, acting as liaison with funding and referral sources.
· Monitor and update service standards to ensure compliance with MassHealth regulations and to ensure continued accreditation with CARF standards.
· Share oversight of individuals case load in terms of treatment and habilitation monthly goals and inform staff
· Participate in the Inter Disciplinary Team process for intake of new individuals, semi-annual review of progress, and annual Severity Profiles.· Supervise the implementation of DHSP and maintain the individual’s records.
· Coordinate OT, PT, SLP, Nursing and Behavioral services for the assigned individuals.
· Submit billing and attendance data on a weekly/monthly basis.
· Submit personnel paperwork, including worker’s compensation claims and attendance records, in an accurate and timely manner.
· Review and update program policies and procedures annually
· Ensure client and employee safety and the appropriate handling of emergency situations.
· Monitor site environment and program vehicles.
· Monitor service’s business transactions (i.e. purchase orders, petty cash).
· Establish annual program goals and implementation plans.
· Review and update program policies and procedures annually
· Monitor and ensure that employees are certified in First Aid, MAP, Safety Care, and CPR and other emergency care procedures
· Other Duties as assigned.
Staff
· Hiring and training Day Habilitation staff and scheduling of staff at specific site
· Ensure adequate daily employee coverage and coordination of vacation and other scheduled leave.
· Instruction, training and disciplinary actions of staff, keeping Vice President informed of all actions
· Promotes the ability of staff to provide excellent services and supports, including the implementation of a staff training plan and the assurance of appropriate staff certification
· Supervises assigned staff within the Department.
· Promotes affirmative action
· Conducts performance evaluations in a timely manner
· Conducts Monthly Supervisions
· Solicit, utilize, and document client input for hiring, employee evaluations and to ensure quality of services
Related Work Experience
Supervisory or managerial experience in the field of disabilities
Evidence of experience with persons with disabilities and their families
Evidence of experience directly related to the responsibilities of the Department
Formal Education, Certification, Licensing
Bachelor’s degree required with at least 3 years of relevant healthcare experience, 2 of which must be in a supervisory capacity. Master’s in related field preferred.
Valid driver’s license.
Completion within one month of CPR, First Aid, and medication administration training and certifications.
Completion within two months of health education and fire safety, ISP and Safety Care training.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $64,000.00 per year
