Position Summary and Overview
The Churchill School & Center, aK-12 school for students with language-based learning disabilities, is seeking a Director of Auxiliary Programming.
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Director of Auxiliary Programming is responsible for carrying out the Mission of Churchill by developing, managing and overseeing all of the Auxiliary Programs offered by the School. This is a full time 12 month position which requires working collaboratively with the following departments: Athletics, Enrollment Management, Facilities, Health Services and Security.
During the academic year, programs include our AfterSchool class offerings, Homework Clubs and our Reading Initiative remediation program. Summer responsibilities include implementing and managing our Summer Camp and onsite/virtual Summer Enrichment Classes (if interest is identified).
Hours:
- Academic year - 10:00am - 6:00pm (M-F) and 2 winter weekends for camp fairs
- Summer - 7:30am - 4:30pm
Essential Duties and Responsibilities for all Auxiliary Programming:
- Ongoing assessment of current auxiliary programs with the objective of generating additional revenue streams which align with Churchill’s Mission and strategic goals
- Evaluate internal and external community/market needs to identify and develop opportunities for new programs and increased revenue generation
- Collaborate with the CFO on all financial and budgetary matters to ensure fiscal soundness of programming
- Develop, design, plan and execute all Auxiliary Programs
- Establish and coordinate all routine communication and outreach calendars for interest/ solicitation with the Communications team
- Collaborate with the Communications team on all marketing efforts, including materials, brochures etc.
- Recruit, hire, train and supervise all individuals (faculty, students etc.) and vendors required to successfully staff programming
- Serve as the main point of contact for all auxiliary programming
- Coordinate all planning and facility use with the COO
- Responsible for the hiring process of all auxiliary personnel, including interviews, reference checks, and (in consultation with the business office) establishing compensation packages
For AfterSchool Programs:
- Develop trimester class schedules based on programmatic interest and coordinated with the Athletic teams calendars
- In consultation with the Business Office, create centralized attendance and payment tracking system to support weekly, ongoing updates to the Business Office
- Communicate all information directly with families surrounding offerings, costs, and schedule, including account balances to ensure regular student attendance
- Create exciting, engaging, and relevant classes and activities
- Coordinate with the Nurse(s) and Facilities team as needed to address medical issues and operational needs
- Supervise on-site and virtual classes, activities, and after-care
- Identify and staff coverage needs in the event of faculty absence
- Manage and/or communicate with relevant personnel regarding disciplinary issues that may arise during auxiliary programming
- Implement communications and marketing strategies to promote auxiliary programming to internal and external communities where appropriate
- Attend events for informational and promotional purposes such as Meet the Faculty Nights (LS and US), All School and Divisional Parent Coffees, and any other relevant events
For Homework Clubs (HWC):
- Circulate HWC schedule alongside AfterSchool Class schedule
- Identify staffing according to registered attendance
- Coordinate with COO on space needs
- Monitor attendance in conjunction with faculty
For Summer Day Camp:
- Review past camp offerings and schedule and modify as needed for successive summer
- Attend citywide camp fairs to promote program (usually 2 winter weekend days)
- Establish marketing outreach and cadence of communications to recruit interest
- Attend Open House events for interested families
- Train counselors/CITs in advance of camp start
- Coordinate CPR training as needed
- Obtain necessary permits for pool access
- Purchase supplies for programs including snacks
- Coordinate scheduling and review of campers’ academic progress with our literacy specialists
- Provide weekly happenings newsletter to families
- Ensure the safety of campers throughout the day in coordination with the counselors and CITs/Volunteers
Reading Initiative:
- Recruit faculty for program (two afternoons / week)
- Provide coverage if needed due to faculty absence
- Ensure that mid-semester progress reports are provided to families
- Collaborate with Office of Philanthropy to provide metrics on student success
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have...
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years experience in program management;
- Experience in leading educational, after-school/extra-curricular, or camp programming;
- Self-starter with a strong attention to detail capable of successfully managing, prioritizing and executing multiple concurrent tasks, while meeting tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment;
- Proficiency with digital registration and scheduling software; expertise in creating spreadsheets and generating reports;
- An entrepreneurial mindset with a proven track record of generating income through profitable program implementation;
- Strong interpersonal skills and confidence working with multiple constituencies;
- Demonstrated management and supervision experience;
- Strong communication skills in all aspects of professional interaction with students, families , administration and external vendors.
- Exposure and experience with marketing preferred.
- Patience, flexibility, good organization skills, and a sense of humor
Compensation
- $70K-$75K commensurate with experience
